These coilovers work for rear
Found some strange single adjustable coilover shocks with 12" 150# springs. They are 17 1/2" from eye to eye. 18 3/4 from top to bottom. Come with lower mount brackets. Car will have 295/50/15 MT radials and be a drag only car.
Just askin as I have found them for about $250. Guy says the part numbers are 3360 on one shock and 3361 on the other
Thanks guys

Re: These coilovers work for rear
the spring length and rate should work, but what is the stroke of the shock? need to know what the compressed length is too. if its not enough, you will bottom them out, and thats not good. the ones that come with Spohns kits are 19.5 eye to eye extended and 12.5 compressed. same stroke length as a stock shock. but after mounting, they are longer than stock, so you really have to lower the axle side shock mount to install them properly.
all the 17.5" ones that i can find in my jegs catalog are 11.5 compressed, thats 6" of stroke. PROPERLY installed they should be fine, as far as stroke is concerned.
to install these in the rear, you HAVE to reinfornce the upper shock mount, its only a couple pieces of thin sheetmetal and not designed to hoid the weight of the car
what kind of brackets does it come with? the typical coilover brackets, single shear with 2 bolted on brackets to adjust the height, will NOT work on a 3rd gen without massive fabrication.
i cant find that part number by Strange, except for master cylinders. Are you sure that what they are? are they new? or how old?

I was going to run an upper coilover mount like what greezemonkey is running. What us considered properly set up. Isn't it like 3/4 extended or something like that?

i am wanting to go to coilovers as well. right now i have afco d/a shocks in the stock location. it would be nice if i could put a spring on my existing shocks and attach them to a fabbed crossmember or something. also wanting to switch to a fuel cell and do minitubs.
got any pics of greasmonkey's setup? or any other setup?

Re: These coilovers work for rear
Leafing through the Afco catalogue...Looks like they make a shock to fit in the stock rear location.
The shock number is 3875CR (single adjustable) or 3870CR (double adjustable).
Both shocks have 7" stroke.
Compressed height-13.9".
Extended-20.9".
The add on coil over hardware kit is 20135D.
Then you would need to choose the proper spring.
Not sure what diameter spring fits the kit.

Re: These coilovers work for rear
Sorry forgot to post. But car is most likely getting a mini tub here soon (have 295/50 but gonna install 29.5x12.5 slicks once car is running).
So I want to move the shock in towards the Dorcas
Offset Lca will go on too

Re: These coilovers work for rear
i'm doing the wolfe mini tubs and their circle track spring kit that uses the same springs as a coilover but the height is adjustable using their mount. Probably will start on both this coming week since I'll have time and finished with thirdgenfest yesterday, so I can start tearing my car apart again.

Re: These coilovers work for rear
I just used a Spohn knockoff. I just called QA1 years ago and asked them for a coilover that has the same stroke as their 4th gen shocks. I also welded in the 1/4" plate reinforcemnents for the stock location mounting.
Getting these cars to hook well with bbc's in the front is a challlenge. The weight bias I found to be the major problem. I was 3450lbs with 1900lbs front and 1550 rear. That has since changed and my 60's are in the 1.27's. Greeze can get his car to lift or wheelie. I have yet to do it. I can get 1.5 inches max. Hopefully after the new front brakes and rack which takes 60lbs off, I will be able to leave with more then 10% on the progressive.

Re: These coilovers work for rear
Mine was 1900lbs with chromoly everything, s10 gear box and stock brakes. I did move myself 6 inches back in the car recently. I had double sfc's. Once the 25.5 was done the outer sfc's were cut out.

Re: These coilovers work for rear
Exactly what I'm wanting to do especially since tires have changed. Picked up some MT drag radials. 325/50/15 for $160 to the door with 10 passes on them. Couldn't say no lol
So 15x10. 6.5 bs weld RTS wheels on the way. Now just need part numbers for what you have. Also do you have any more pics of how the upper mount crossmember is mounted

replaced by a wishbone setup.
The upper mount is welded to the frame/cage , I`ll see if i make better pic.
