My TBI w/the edelbrock performer intake will work fine with this right?

I e-mailed these guys and told them what i got. they said i need the 87 and newer heads desinged for tbi for it to work. They are telling me that the heads they use on the engines for 86 and old are only for carb......I don't believe this...I think if i got the engine for 86 and older and put my TBI w/the edelbrock porformer rpm intake and I will be fine..right??? he didn't say what kind of heads they use..here is the site...

you would probably have to do some drilling the get the bolt holes to line up.

just get the 87 and newer crate motor so you dont have to worry about it

a few of the bolt holes in the 86 and older heads are at different angles then the 87 and newer heads, which means if u have a intake for a 87 and newer heads, it will not bolt up to the older heads without some work.

Ok, I'm going to take this a step further, and explain why. I can get an 85 305 longblock more or less for free. Assuming I rebuilt that to my planned spec, I could put 87-up 305 HO heads on
right? (No worries about TBI or accy's fitting then, or any other diffs there may be)

I mean, since you can get them for like $100 a pair and they're definately a step up over my swirl port LO3 heads, why not. Those I know will have no issues with the TBI Intake, but the 85 block is a non-roller so I couldn't use an LT1 cam like I'd planned to. I could always do a little research and find a flat lifter cam with similar specs I guess, no biggie. Also, would the one piece/two piece rear seal make any difference as far as... well, anything, as far as putting the motor in a later year car?

I know there are much more potent combos I could put together, but I'm talking max budget here.

what do we have for head options for tbi...I know the vortec heads require a $300.00 intake. The s/r touquer heads are another good setup, but what else is there for head options for our little lo3 that are compatible to tbi?...mabe I should go do some research

the four center bolts on the intake are at a more shallow angle to increase the clearences with the two pushrods in back of the bolts on the newer style heads (i think). You can drill the holes to the different angle but its a waste of time for yuour stock intake. I think holley makes an intake for their projection tbi that would probably work with our setup on the older style intake face. I put an edelbrock performer carb intake on mine, mainly because it was really cheap, and i had to cut down two of the bolts for the intake to prevent them from damaging the pushrods. I havnt gotten the adapter plate for it yet because im outta money to buy the headers and the adaopter plate and the other little crap that ill probably need to get it to work.
