problem with jumpin rpm's

when i am cruising for instance say 25 mph with steady throttle my rpms will jump for say 2,000 rpm to like 2,100 rpm and keep jumping up and down like wah wah wah, until i either give more gas or let off what do you think the problem may be?

Does it do it cruising on the freeway at 60 mph as well? I know a flakey TPS sensor does that. The computer sees the fluctuations in the TPS sensor readings and starts adjusting fuel and such causing a jerky ride. Only way to test TPS sensor is with multimeter and test voltage as you open and close the throttle and look for unusual voltage changes.

when this happened to me it was a burned spark plug wire, I had a stock exhaust on it at the time, so I couldn't hear the miss.
