Aftermarket air cleaner (where's the pic)?
I'm drawing a blank, I can't find where to get an air cleaner, mayber one of those Xtreme ones that are open all around....i know there was a pic on an older thread of a black air cleaner (open element) and i think there was even the "CAMARO" logo on the top...can anyone point me in the right direction?
I found a link to a pic, its close but i was looking for the black plastic one...http://snflupigus.tripod.com/openel.doc

Black Open Air Cleaner w/ Camaro on it is from Classic Industries......just a note...no preformance gain with an open element set-up.....stock is the best set-up...no joke....I just put my stock set-up back on.

I took the snorkle off of a 350 pan, and brazed it to a 305 pan. the 350 snorkle is larger, and lets more air in than a stock 305 snorkle. I was able to attach the 350 duct, to the 305 duct to allow cold air in. You need cold air to reach the tbi. That's why jbk88sc didn't get any performance gains with the open element he tried.

According to some of the information Ive gotten off this site is some of the first mods to be made to a stock car is to open up the intake and exhaust with a open element and full 3in after market exhaust. It allows the car to breath better and not be chocked by a stock system. So Ive read.

Yes. Go to Specter on line and check out there stuff. There no fly by night company. I think there products are quality. By the way,I use k&n oil and cleaner on my Specter filters. Its just easier to find at Kragen and such. You can spend more and get the K&N set-up but I don't see why.http://www.spectreperformance.com/For a better price on the lid go here.
http://www.summitracing.com/search/?...R%20TOPS&dds=1 By the way to get the most out of the lid it pays to have a true cowl opening to really pull from the top.

Can anyone vouch for either side of this argument? As to whether the stock set up is better than an open element set up?
I'm thinking of getting an open element for my car, but if is worse performance wise than my stock set up then I obviously won't.
