ABS, anybody install a system in our cars?

Has anybody installed an ABS brake system into their car and if so, what parts and how hard was it?

I've never heard of it. My question is: Why? If you know how to use the brakes, ABS has no or little advantage. My other two vehicles have ABS and I prefer the non-ABS.

I have no real experience with ABS systems, but I'll give it a shot, first, you'll need to find rotors with the ABS triggers (I guess that's the correct word..) second, you'll need drums, which could easily be gotten from a 4thgen. Third, you'll need the sensors, and then the ABS computer. Fourth, you'll need whatever kind of brake master cyl and or prop valve that ABS systems use.

I suggest borrowing a 4thgen service manual from the library and copying the ABS wiring diagram, it doesn't sound like it's incredibly complicated.

I belive finding stock-style rotors would be the hardest part

I think the Astrovan rotors for the ones that have ABS would work. Seems to me they were the same... might wanna check that out.
As for putting in ABS, I dunno. Someone did it, see if a search yields something, here or the net. Pretty sure I saw something before.

What do you mean "know how to use the brakes"? Is there a trick to braking our cars in different situations? I usually just press the pedal, lol. But, if there is more, please tell, cause I'd really like to learn.

Not a "trick" specific to any particular model of car, the threshold technique he was refering to for panic stops (the only time the ABS is needed) keeps the maximum braking force possible applied without locking the wheels. As I'm sure you're aware, when the wheels lock, you have no control over the car (bad). When you learn to modulate the brake pedal to keep the wheels at the limit of adhesion without locking, you will see shorter stopping distances, and hopefully avoid ending up in the trunk of the car in front of you!
