burning insane amounts of gas

first off its an 1988 pont gta with a 350 tpi with 70,000 miles
the car started burning alot of gas lately and ive knowticed a slight smell of burning oil and a bit of smoke coming from the rear passenger side on the engine.(but oil level has not changed and ive been checking it every day.) i have replaced the intake manifold a while ago due to a crack ( looked like it was over tightend.) but after i replaced it everything worked fine untill a while ago. right now i got 100 miles per tank and it starts a bit hard ( could be the cold too though). i have a feeling that it is the intake manifold gasket but would that cause that much of a change in gas milage?

does it smeel really rich out the pipes? are u leaking any fuel underneath the car? how does the car run, and hows the main st. cruising scene there!? oh and the hard start is classic third gen, stuff try switching the 2 relays at drivers side fire wall the fuel pump relays like to get pretty shaby , and r u sure that the smoke isnt from coolant from your previuos leak?

it does smell very rich. and i havnt knowticed anything leaking but i cant really tell because of where ive been parking it. its idling at the right rpms but it slight veeery slightly sounds like its surging. and my quartermile isnt so great . and main street is pretty lame (to many kids in escorts and hondas dr iving recklessly) unless its during a car show then its great.

make sure that the seal on the runners is good they are pretty finicky, my buddy has a 89 that we had 2 intake gaskets go bad, and each time had issues getting the runners to seal, try to get a spray bottle and let loose sprayin the runners and try 2 see if its idle or any thing changes, o and do u ride bmx?

gnarly, I ride 2! let me know what happens, and ya I probobly no u, I used to live in fondlesack 4 a while, wierd! anyway did this occur before the intake gasket change?, cuz im wondering if possibly the coolant trashed ur 02 sensor if the ruuners r sealed or maybe some kinda vac leak (missed, ur cracked hose?) try to chace the fuel lines to see if there wet ,starting at feed into the fuel rails al the way back,

it started a while after the new manifold was put in. and i bought a new o2 sensor not that long ago and it didnt change anything. and i can not find a vacume leak ive sprayed carb cleaner everywhere and it just keeps idling the same. and i really cant see any leaks so i dont think im losing fuel. and tommorow im gunna run it on a computer and see if the temp sensors are reading ok. and do you happne to know where i could get a vac diagram? possibly one is in the wrong spot.

try to spraying water its not flamable so if there is a vac . leak it`ll stumble, I should have clairified that, but remember 02`s are picky, I`ve had the situation were I had 4 bosch sensors last 2 months one was bad out of the box, and the other 3 just died way fast, I used a delco and that is now 3-4 yrs old, with out problems. try to talk to the guys at auto zone they have a program called"ALL DATA" which will have the diagrams, other wise a haynes or chilton manual may also

the chilton manual seems to be good for nothing latly. using the carb cleaner is what ive always done i find it kinda easier to knowtice when the car just revs up. and i did just buy a boshe one i should check into that.

the chilton manual is great and also ive seen on most hoods when you open them up there is a vacuum diagram sticker near the safety latch. good luck.

How's fuel pressure? Any leak down after sitting? A leakin injector(s) may be the cause of the hard starting and the fuel consumption.. just a thought
