Performance Help

Hey all I have a 91 firebird 3.1L v6 fuel injected automatic. What I am looking to do is either better the v6 or is it possible to put in a bigger engine. So does anyone know good performance upgrades that will make my v6 faster or what engine swap can I do. Thanks

Dont play around with the V6 its just money down the drain. Upgradeing is the way to go. Just drop in a 350 and a V8 700r4 and your good to go.

Re: Performance Help

I agree, a swap to 350 would be best for performance. I would swap in a LS1 V-8 engine form a 90's camaro/firebird. It might be a good idea to buy a junk car to use for donor parts (engine, transmission, wire harnesses, rear end, disc brakes, etc).

Have any pictures of your bird to post?

Check out these posts in the Engine swap section. They should give you a good head start.

Re: Performance Help

i agree as well that swap would be good but unfortunatly im trying to do the best for the money which is my biggest problem. since i dont have the tools myself i would have to send it to a shop and the labor i would imagine would be expensive plus i would have to upgrade the rear and front and other stuff to support a v8. i was considering putting a performance chip, cam, performance intake manifold, performance thermostat, and k&n intake. only i dont know where to go to get a cam or if i can even get one for a good price that will work. any tips?

If your stuck on a V6 the best thing to start looking into is a turbo.

I dont know alot about turbos but I found this on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TWIN-...Q5fAccessories

Go to the power adder section in here and ask what you will need to do to throw some turbos in your car.
