Re: what type gas do you use?

87 is good for your V6. I run 93 in my camaros because they are both running on tuned prom chips.

Re: what type gas do you use?

I would run 91 when I had my bird on the road also because of a chip... once a month I would use octane booster... I swore I could feel a little edge, but hmm... not for sure... ..

do you think there would be a noticible difference if i went to 91? hmmm prom chips ive been thinking about doing that if was to do that what would be the best one to go for? im also thinking about doing a homemade ram air. and im gutting out the cat this weekend because its clogged all to hell and im to broke for a new one and is there a noticible difference with the chip? how much more power did you get?

Re: what type gas do you use?

If the car runs fine on 87, switching to a higher octane won't make any difference.

I put a corvette chip in my 89 LB9, all I got was better throttle response. Then in the 89 L98 I had one with a mild tune, I got quicker acceleration. I'm not sure it'll make a v6 camaro quicker.

Re: what type gas do you use?

Yeah, it all depends on what the car is tuned for. A higher octane won't help unless your car is setup for it. I believe the rating for my little 305 tbi is ~88.5. I gotta double check my owners manual on that.

a chip will simply give you different fuel curve and a bit more timing... you'd have to do some research to see what is "ACTUALLY" available for a v6... probably look for a shop that deals with tuning....

I was going to say PCM4Less, but a member here on TGO, had a bad experience, and they were kinda' giving him a hard time about what was actually wrong with the chip.. from what I've read they eventually said send it back.. but member had already solved the issue through a different party.. so if you go with them, just keep in mind I am not recommending it ..
