Re: keys?
I think there was a thread in this forum just a couple weeks ago about this, wouldn't hurt to search. But since you had the ignition replaced your VIN would be of no use to the dealer to get you a new set, locksmith might be your easiest answer.

Re: keys?
Are you saying you already have the VATS bypassed? If so, it really makes no difference what you do with the cylinder. Since you probably already have an aftermarket cylinder at this point, it may be most practicle for you to just remove the steering wheel and replace the cylinder yourself.

Re: keys?
I learned what my key code was when I got it and it saved me some trouble when I had ignition problems. Everyone who owns a car with Vats should have the key number associated to the resistance. Then the replacement ignition wont be a problem. If you do keep the Vats and get it working, take note of it and record it for future issues that may arise.

Re: keys?
But - if you get the right resistors, and bypass the VATS, then any ignition cylinder will work.
BUT ALSO - if you know the resistor value, then you can just have a key made from that old key template with that resistor.
Or, you can get another VATS key cylinder and have the new keys cut with the correct resistor value.
ACE Hardware can make the VATS keys much cheaper than the dealer.
