code 44 after replacing EGR
Hoping someone may have some ideas of how to fix the issues with my 92 5.7.
Car always had run a little rough, and check engine light going down the highway. Code 32 EGR.
Finally decided to try and fix that. Got a used solenoid since the original ones are no longer available, and the Corvette ones are back ordered until July it appears.
After swapping it out, I still had the same issue. Ran rough, and check engine light would randomly come on going down the freeway (code 32).
So next swapped out the EGR valve itself.
Car seemed to run a little better, still has a little bit of a roughness to it. but better. Ran it down the freeway a couple times, no light.
Thought I had it fixed.
But now a couple days ago, there was a cruise and everyone just takes their car and drive around a loop.
Things were going OK, but then it started to miss a little again. Then while basically stop and go, I get a check engine light (never happened at low speed before).
So we left, and driving home. CES light went off. Car ran fine going down the highway.
Get home to read codes.
32 EGR
44 Oxygen sensor error
Can't believe the 32 code is still there. I didn't clear codes, but it should have went away on it's own shouldn't it?
And the code 44 is brand new. Could there be anything related to the EGR issue?
Things I've already done.
Vacuum lines: I thought maybe I had a vacuum leak, visually looked over all the lines, didn't see anything obvious.
Then tried a smoke test as I've seen suggested in this forum. I saw no visible smoke coming from anywhere.
Fuel pressure:
Turn Key to on: Pressure goes up to about 45psi. Then with key off, very slowly drops. After 30 minutes, it was at 38.
Car running: Fuel pressure sits at 37-38. Is this normal?
anything else I should be looking at? Or can troubleshoot?

Re: code 44 after replacing EGR
02 could be original for all I know.
Just seems strange it popped up right after I did this EGR stuff.
More details on a datalog, not sure exactly how that is done.

Re: code 44 after replacing EGR
You would need tunerpro rt and moates.net xtreme aldl to see live and record data with $8d mask 90-92 tpi.
www.tunerpro.net for free software and adx . Could be a lean condition but watching fuel trims in closed loop might indicate if lean or any o2 movements or if o2 is lazy. Did you use rtv on the plenum gaskets or runners ?

Thanks again for your help.
Are you saying I need the software, and I'm assuming this cable?
I did not use any RTV on the gaskets as there wasn't any on there when I took it off. Should I?

Re: code 44 after replacing EGR
Since I don't have the cable yet, I was doing some other troubleshooting.
Decided to ohm out the injectors, found some interesting.
5 of the 8 were 16-17ohms
1 was 6 ohm
1 was 20 ohm
1 was 11 ohm.
Does this sound like 3 bad injectors to you?

Yup, those injectors are toast. I agree, southbay will hook you up.

Well shoot, I was going to go and purchase the xtreme aldl, went to the site and it looks like they closed down as of 2 days ago!
So what are our options for a cable that works with TunerPro now?

http://www.1320electronics.com
the 730 $8d is easy to connect to aldlcables.com
should work for that.

Re: code 44 after replacing EGR
Thanks
So if I buy this cable
http://aldlcable.com/products/aldlobd1u.asp
That will allow me to read data in programs like TunerPro.
But I'm not able to write anything to the car right? For example if I wanted to delete the EGR and have it stop throwing the light. I can't do that with just this cable and software, or can I?
