305 TBI vs modded civic, 5.0, and a probe
ok guys, a while back i posted about some disappointing track times, 17.1 at LACR. Recently, i have done some basic tune-up stuff on my car and last night I went out to race with like 20-30 people, first I raced a modded 98 civic (Intake full exhaust, including header throttle body computer work and some other stuff that I forgot). We took off even and he pulled like 4 feet in front of me till about 20 when i got traction and pulled about 3 cars up to 80mph. Next i raced the 5.0 and he took me at about 70 because I got the jump off the line cause he had a bad start. next i raced a probe and took him all the way to 90 and had him by about 6 cars. Then the civic raced the probe and beat it by like 2-3 cars. So does my 305 tbi seem like its running where it should be for being stock, except exhaust? oh yea, one more thing i also raced a 3.1 maro with a new engine and with a 250 lb guy in my car i beat him by like 4 cars. can anyone give me some estimated numbers for these cars, like the civic and the probe, and the probe wasnt one of the newer ones, it was kind of boxy, but i dont know what year. thnx guys

Well I cant really say what numbers those cars are running because i dont know the engine size stock 4 banger probes run high 16's that civic is probably running low 16's and the guy in the 5.0 cant drive becuase they are supposed to run low 15's stock. your probably running around a 16.1.Hope that helped.

RSstocker, you say your car is stock except exhaust. Do you done your full exhaust? just muffler? Sounds like your car is running pretty good to me, to be stock

I would put you in the 16s also, but who knows what you run, unless you take it to the track.

"Low 15s??? My stock AOD car went low 15s with 2.73s. A stick is a mid to high 14 second car!"

Yeah I was saying Low 15's as a worst case scenario, As if the guy had AOD and 2.73's

well. i took my car to the track again and was running consistent 17.1's.... again in bad weather and as the weather got worse, i was running 17.8's, however, i think i may be in the 16's with good weather, seeing as it was extremely dry and windy. even a 2001 corvette was running 16's and it was an auto, so i doubt the driver messed it up. anyway, im gonna go again next week and hope for better weather, or maybe if i can get time, i'll go to irwindale.

I don't believe you beat a 5.0 (assuming a Mustang). I can't recall any 5.0's being dogs like that.
