Why do most of you think that HONDAS and suburus and even TOYOTAS can beat the F-BODIES??? im seeing alot of negetivity here!! do any of you feel like a honda or a toyota can beat your camaro or firebird,trans am ????

A V8 Fbody will defeat about 70% of what is driving on the road STOCK.

Typically alot of older imports (honda's, toyota's) are not a problem for a V8 Fbody mostly due to V8 torque on the street.

Now, the thing is these cars are being pumped out of the r1ce factories by the thousands which means there is a huge aftermarket. And it doesn't take much to make these anorexic cars quick.

There is really no cut and dry answer to your question. If a Honda owner throws a turbo on his motor and cranks it up yes it will beat your STOCK V8 Fbody. If you build up a nice 350 and put a 100shot, you will probably beat him.

Build yourself a consistant low 12/high 11 car and then you won't have to worry about much at all. Except the local PD

Look in my sig, I'm just hoping for low 13's which is fast enough to beat say 80-90% of the cars on the road...

But then there is your freak like Trax who has a Stock looking STI that can pull 11's. Those are the guys to look out for! , and respect...

EDIT: V8 Fbody = Meant a 350TPI. Not a L03. I think the L03 was actually GM's 1st attempt at a DoD engine and it just didn't work! hehe

My Honda was faster than a stock Corvette at my altitude. I guess that means....that I know my Honda was faster than ALL stock F-bodies around me. Boy, you sure do know how to make a guy feel good. You are living in denial. If you don't have any mods your 15 year old 3rd gen is only a mediocre performer. You raced one lowly stock CRX. So you don't think that a supra, S2000, WRX, STI, EVO, boosted civic, or 350Z can beat your 170hp dream machine. You will be in for a rude awakening one day. Your LO3 is weak. I would bet that my '05 M5 economy cavalier can pull a better ET than a stock LO3.

I know this thread will get out of hand by its shear premise and content. Lets keep the flaming and rants down in this one.

It isn't really an idea but more of a fact. Any car can be made to be faster than the one sitting next to it. That doesn't prove anything other than money buys speed, how fast do you wanna spend. That applies to all vehicles.

Lets refer to them as imports and an avoid the all caps racial ambiguity.

Is there any real point to this post?

Anyone can take any car and make it fast with time and money. Whether or not the car is a Camaro or Civic, import or domestic, big or small is pretty much irrelevant. And there will always be someone out there with a faster car than yours. That's just the way it is.

EDIT: Just saw that Shifty posted pretty much that same thing.

How many BMW's and Mercedes do you see with sports compact mufflers and huge wings? I guess those people feel their cars are worth too much to degraded it by adding the standard ***** gear.

VWs, though... I'm not sure. I've definately seen some riced-out VW bugs and Jettas around here.

There's not a lot of newer imports that will have trouble beating a 305 auto third gen. Get used to it.

reality:

most of you have 3400+lb cars that were factory rated for well under 200hp.

you can buy 4cyl cars that weigh 1000lbs less and make the same power.
you would have a hard time finding a modern V6 that didnt make that much power. and the car its in is probly lighter.


in a nutshell... your car is old and outdated. either swap motors, do some work, learn something about your car and realize that you're ignorant for just making this thread........


or keep spewing the "im a big bad V8 owner" crap and remain ignorant.
