Re: cheap proformance parts for 350 tpi
Search out ebay for used parts, tpi intakes, cams etc.
Have a good friend who is pulling some very low mile TPIS 190 afr heads off his C4 know they can be had for 1000. Not ":cheap" but for the numbers they make and the hardware it is.
Just gotta be patient and deal hunt there is a line though where cheap gets you spending the money and doing the job twice.

Re: cheap proformance parts for 350 tpi
for peformance.... Full exhuast (headers, y-pipe, hi flow cat, catback) headers- hooker 2055's (includes y-pipe) hi flow cat- magnaflow hi flo cat, Catback- magnaflow
That will net you a nice gain in peformance expecially since you have a 350. Plus it will sound REAL nice
Then I would make a CAI that goes thru the fender hole on the battery side (which you will most likely need to also relocate the battery to the trunk which is a good idea even without the CAI mod)
And then I would do an shift kit like suggested.
Theres more things you could do but this is most defintly a nice start

I dont think anyone also mentioned getting your plenum and runners ported out? i hear that with porting stock parts (plenum, runners, and mani) that you can still get some bad *** airflow'age without spending on aftermarket.
that was a good link vetteoz

That's a waste of money on heads until you do about $1000 of other stuff and get much better results. Seriously. C'mon
Do the intake, look for something used like a Miniram, Runners, base, etc.. the exhaust like headers, get a tune, maybe a rear end change. That's your first steps on these motors.
NEXT STEP is a cam and heads if you plan on digging into the engine, which from the original post I don't think you're going to do at this time. Heads are not bolt on or easy.
To do heads alone isn't worth the time and money and $1000 is no bargain for what you're going to get out of it without doing the supporting components first.

Re: cheap proformance parts for 350 tpi
Here we go again...AFR heads WILL make up/fix ANY deficiencies in a motor once you bolt them on, doesn't matter if you have a peanut cam, crappiest tune in the world or even missing two plugs....bolt on some AFRs and all the problems will disappear

Re: cheap proformance parts for 350 tpi
OP it sounds like you got all the "cheap" things out of the way. Unfortunately there's nothing cheap about building power with TPI. The only way you'll find that at this point is going with good used parts, intakes, cams, heads, ect, when funds permit.
There is still the rest of the car to toy with though. Lower control arms and subframe connectors seem to be money well spent.

Cheap only applies to doing your own wrenching, tuning, and getting good prices on proven performance parts new, or used.

Re: cheap proformance parts for 350 tpi
its not bolt in, but a 5.3 vortec engine is 70 more horsepower and can be bought for 6 or 7 hundred bucks. if you can do the swap thats a good way to get hp for cheap

Re: cheap proformance parts for 350 tpi
thanks.. alot of good advise here. there is a shop that dyno's and tunes for around 300 bucks? and i am going to try to find a ported intake and runners this is my DD i want to find them instead of taking mine off and being out of a car for a while lol. i plan on the shift kit in my new tranny and then i should be pretty happy (: its quick as hell already just want a lil more. and as for the standard thats to much work for what im looking for right now but a 6 speed would be baddd!

Ok, I will actually answer your question.
1. A good high performance tune up $200 (MSD wires, plugs and cap, MSD 6A ignition box)
2. TPIS Airfoil in the Throttle body and remove the "bumps" in TPI plenum.
3. Cut the bottom of the air boxs out.
4. 160 thermostat and hypertech fan switch http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HYP-4026 (these cars run hot, cool them down and you will get some good ET's out of them.
5. Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator set at 50 PSI http://www.jegs.com/i/Holley/510/512...0002/-1?CT=999
6. An Ed Wright Fast Chip,($159) http://www.fastchip.com/ I have great results with his chips even on stock applications.
7. A good cat back exhaust ($200) and exhaust headers if you can afford them ($300 to $400)
8. Shift kit in the trans
9. Regear to 3.73 (good for a solid .5 in the quarter mile)
10. Not cheap but the Holley Stealthram intake or TPIS mini ram intake (both good for a solid 40 hp on a 350 speed denisty car and both bolt on to a 91 really easy.
These are my recommendations and I have shaved over a full second off my car with items 1 thru 9 only. 91 is a great car to modify as it has no cold start injector or MAF to deal with and has a nice cam from the factory.
