Head Rebuild

Alright I started rebuilding my heads since I blew a head gasket but I had to leave in the middle of it for military training and now I forgot where everything goes so I need some help.

First off in this picture.

The 3 bolts on the lifter guide thing, what torque are they suppose to be at?

Second

These are my new head gaskets, which side goes down? Hard to tell but in the picture it shows both sides, one side has little marks all over it while the other side is smooth in between the cylinders and other areas....

Third

On the head bolts, there was 1 that was shorter than the others and I don't remember what one that was....

On the back of the heads there was some holes, now I know one of those was for grounds but I don't remember which hole and what the others were for? Also I have these two sensors in the picture if you could help me with those.

Thanks for all the help, mean a lot.

Re: Head Rebuild

Gaskets should say this side up.

Two bolts on the end of the heads near rockers should be shorter. Of course the ones along the bottom of the heads are even shorter.

The bolts for the lifter hold down, I would locktight them, and snug them down.

Re: Head Rebuild

Yeah, I would expect it to say which side goes down but it doesn't very weird...
And Thanks!
Any clue where those sensors go on the right side of the last picture? I think one was a knock sensor and i think the other is broken but not sure what they are or where they go?

I found this,

Doesn't help much. Maybe it doesn't matter.

Re: Head Rebuild

O also for putting the lifters back, they are new and dry, should I put some kind of lubricant or engine assmbly lube somewhere or just soak them in oil or what?

I soak lifters for 24 hours in new oil before installing.
