Th-350 ?

Am I correct: The long tail TH-350 came in 70s and early 80s trucks.

??

Thanks

Almost all trucks are the 4 bolt block. Even more so back in 78. 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton didn't matter.

As for Brodyscamaro. Yes I beleive you are correct. The th350 I used on my L98 in my SS came from a Malibu. Worked perfect without any shaft problems mind you it used a 2004r originally.

Will a 9 inch tailshaft fit on a transmission with a 6 inch tailshaft without problems?

I don't think so, but I am not 100% positive though either.

Sure, the longer extension housing will work, if you take the trans apart and put in the drum with the longer shaft too.

What do you guys think the most I should pay for the transmission is? That is if I can't find one for free. I was thinking of paying no more then $125 or $150 bux for one - and prolly cheaper.

i got my full race tranny for 300 bucks(not including driveline lenghtening, custom xmember, etc) of course i knew the guy, so i got the core for free, he charged me 100$ in labor, and at the time i worked at a parts wearhouse, with 30% discount. anyway its b&m threestage shift kit with some drilled valve bodies and some of the fundamental stuff to turn grandmas th350 in her boat to a firebreather. now it may sound like im blowing a lot of smoke, and i am, my point is dont pay too much, th350s are common and the upgrades are cheap. you could probably do the labor yourself if you had a good step by step manual(not sure where to find one) anyway, thats my 2 cents worth, and remember if u do it yourself remember, CLEANLINESS. And as i final note, i recommend the swap to anyone that can, u wont believe the difference between your 700r4

If your talking a price on a TH350 from a junk yard, I don't think they'd cost over $50, around here they range from $25-50 anyways. I've personally got NO luck with used stuff, so I either buy new or have whatever completely rebuilt, now my chince buddy won't spend money on anything, he always buys trannies straight from the junk yard for his projects (last one had 1" sludge & crud in the pan) he has me put in a B&M shift kit and calls them good-lucky bastard has yet to have a bad tranny. Back in high school (81 Monte) I did this with 4 trannies in a 2 week span, needless to say by the 3 & 4th time I could have it back on the road in less than 2 hrs from the time I first started-I never want to be that efficent again

trucks from 69-79 were 4 bolt mains 2wd and 4x4 both, after that they could be either and mainly 4 bolt in the 3/4 and 1 tons

long tail trannies in all 2wd trucks after 72, 4wd tryucks have no tailshaft housing at all
