Anyone running a T56 and 4.10's??

I've talked to a few guys who run this combo. I've also ridden in a T56 4.10 geared '99 TA and it hauled major A##. What do you all think?

Well... no one at all? Please give your suggestions. I don't want to make the wrong choice between 3.73's and 4.10's!

TIA

I put a set of 4.10's in my buddies car. He has a 92 camaro, 383, elderbrock rpm heads, super ram, t56, 4" muflex, etc. I rode in it this weekend... Agh-hum. Whoa. First is worthless. Second is basically worthless. Third gets ya side ways. He goes by 3rdgenfrank on this site.

Wether you should go with 4.10 or 3.73 depends on your rear suspension and what type of tires you are using. My buddy's car has some old tires on it that he will be replacing with some drag radials. He might have a chance at traction with that. He hasn't ran it at the track yet, it would be interesting to see what gear and how many rpm's he is running through the traps. You should take this into consideration also. I know some people that want to go through the traps in 4th, and others want 5th. I don't know what is best. YOu lose time shifting, but by using more gears you can have shorter shifts to keep the engine in the power band.

In conclusion: The 4.10 might be excessive with regular radials, but with good tires you might see a benifit from it. Also, look at your predicted 1/4 mile trap speed and then do some math. That should be a big factor in your decison. Post that, then maybe we could direct you better.

One more thing, do you drive on the highway alot? Is gas milage a consideration at all?

Thanks. Yeah 1st and 2nd are a joke probably! I'm running some pretty soft and sticky Dayton Daytona 245/50r16's. I really want some Nitto 555r's in the future. They work really well so far. I'm not sure how much I'll be taking it to the track? Mostly I drive it, SHORT street races, CRUISE in it, and race 'Stangs. I DO drive on the interstate quite a bit, but guys told me that the 6-spd's 0.50 OD will help the mileage considerably... even with steep gears. With 4.10's and a T56, the final drive ratio is 2.05. A T5/3.42 G92 car has a 2.12 final drive. Hell thats higher than a T56/4.10 setup. Right now I have a T5/3.08 setup. Its final drive is a 1.9096 and a T56/3.73 combo will be a 1.865. This means that gas mileage shouldn't really be of any concern. MAN, that .5 OD really does kick *** ! Right now I can get 25-26mpg strictly interstate. With T56/4.10's I shouldn't lose much and with T56/3.73 I should actually gain a little. Well, let me know what you think. THX

I have 4.10 gears and a T56. IROCSTAN pretty much nailed it. I still get a little over 20 mpg on the highway and cruise at 75 mph at about 2000 rpm. It just doesn't get any better than that. Just realize that the '94-up T56 has a 2.66 first gear so you need a pretty tall rear gear to lauch. Tires will help me a lot. Mine are old and hard.

Frank- Thanks! I think I'll go with them. What speedo calibration did you use? I heard bad stuff about Cyberdyne and was wondering how easy it is to use the DakotaDigital thing. Well, thanks again.

BTW-What rocker arms are you using? Where? How much? TIA

I have the Cyberdyne box and it does not work very well at all. I ordered a Dakota Digital box today, so I'll let you know how it works. The biggest deciding factor for picking rear gears may be what gear and rpm you want to run through the traps at.

Thats what I had heard about them. How much for Dakota?? I'm not too worried about trap speeds and such. I'll probably just run a few times... mostly a street runner and daily driver. I'm in it mainly for the speed on the road and such... CAREFULLY though!!
