Ok at about 50-55 my car starts shaking like no other, it feels ok until i hit 55. Any ideas what this may be. I also would like to add I replaced the u joints. And while I had the drive shaft off the PO had hose 2 hose clamps near the trans. I dont know what this is about, may be a cheap balance act. any ways i took them off, it didnt seem to make a difference.
Most likey cause is the tires are out of balance, i wouldn't suspect the tranny going bad inless it is making noise or shifting funny. It could also be that the driveshaft is bend or out of balance. Have you hit any pot holes/speed bumps to fast or run over anything to aggresively?

Its the u joints. You will need to replace. Try this when you put it in gear do you hear kind of a faint clunk in the rear end? and when you drive it vibrates not constant but high vibration to low vibration if it does this. The u joints need to be replaced. I had the same problem.
That could be it too, I would check that also. A quick check would be to roll on under and see if the have any play in it, with the drive shaft still installed you shouldn't be able to feel any play in the u-joints. I've seen people drive around and not even notice a vibration from u-joints that have long lost their needle bearings. True story when me and my brother tore his 4x4 chevy apart i took the driveshaft out and the endcaps were broken in half and he said, " so that must have been the drive vibration i felt". LOL. The vibration you explain seem like something worse though like a bend driveshaft or a realy off balanced tire.

The brand new wheels and tires were on the car when i bought it i noticed the vibration when i test drove it, the PO said that his mechanic said that it was the u-joints, so i replaced them, thats when i noticed the hose clamps on the drive shaft, not sure what they were on there for. So I took them off, and it did not make a difference. It shakes so bad that the cd player skips and everything in the whole car rattles.
When I first got my car It did this.I got new tires, new rims, had the front end checked and started rebuilding it.Of course the last thing I did is what made it go away.Ball joints were my problem but it could be anything anyone has listed. My vibration was about 70 mph.I also recently had some older tires on my car and got a vibration.Bought a new set of tires and alignment and was like a new car.
Well I dont think its the u joints. These cars are prone to driveshaft issues. Take the ds out send it to a driveline shop for ballance. Mine was so far out of whack it wasent funny. Actually had 2 dirve shafts ballanced for my bird for the different transmissions ive had in it.
