Axle shaft diameter?

Off the top of your heads, what is the diameter of the 28 spline axle shafts? Not the axle tubes, but the axle shafts. Can't seem to find an answer on the interwebs or anywhere else. Thanks.

Oh, forgot about that. I suppose both long and short bearing part. If possible.

Re: Axle shaft diameter?

You talking about a 10 bolt or a 9 bolt?

Re: Axle shaft diameter?

Darn, I keep forgetting the important info. Sorry about that. The 10 bolt. The reason I ask is because I'm curious if the axles work with a GM 8.5 10 bolt carrier or LSD with the 28 splines. I would imagine they would be different, but I would love to know. 28 spline 8.5 shafts are 1.285' I think. I was thinking about doing a "pumpkin" swap. The 8.5 housing for the 7.5 and keep the factory tubes. Kind of like the 8.8 diff someone wrote a thread about. I'm crazy, I know, but very curious. The TA mount should be easy enough to fabricate.

Re: Axle shaft diameter?

7.5 and 8.5 28 spline axles are the same size at the splines and at the bearing. The c clip buttons are not the same.

Re: Axle shaft diameter?

Ahh ok. I suppose this is good news. Perhaps the C-Clip problem can be remedied. Thank you very much.

Re: Axle shaft diameter?

The 7.5 uses a smaller c clip than the 8.5. Don't know how to get around that.
