What does it mean when you see sparks under the hood?

Got home tonight, and figured I'd lift up the hood. I saw some small blue sparks I think where the boot goes on the rear passenger side plug. Any ideas what causes, and solutions? Would this be the cause of my crappy gas mileage, ,or is that more from my leaking exhaust manifold?

Let me guess , your two plugs by your EGR valve are shot to hell ?

Wanna fix this problem and not have to change those plugwires all the time ?

Taylor heat sleeves from Summit
E-mail or call summit up and tell them you need two of there taylor heat sleeves . Or if you wanna put heat sleeves on all of the boots , just get the eight pack of heat sleeves . I use to have to changed 2 of my plugwires , the 1 and 3 one between the Egr every 2 months , I got hose sleeve protectors and I've had them on there for almost 6 months now ! ....Those suckers work !!!

From what I could tell its only the one at the rear. I'll look into the heat shields.

Years ago I went through two #3cylinder plug wires in 6 months because of the heat from the EGR. I've run thermal boot sleeves on my Taylors for aprox 6 years now and my wires are still perfect.

LOL the stock heat shields make it worse, use ACCEL high temp wires from summit, sometimes what your seeing is tracking, put silocone grease in the boots, also be sure to relocate your coil, it gets cooked by the EGR. The glow around the Coil is normal, how do I know? well I have 6 coils that I tryed all do it from the minute you put them on.

You saw actual sparks, or a blue glow? A blue glow at the base of the plug, where it goes into the head, is normal; can't get rid of it.

Could be that the wire is not fully on the plug
