Mourning period...

Today I sold my Camaro... $3000 even. It was hard watching it back out of the driveway and take off down the street. I'm not that upset yet..I think I'm still in shock. It's gone. I might not even see it again..... A sad, sad day! My other car is in the shop too, so I'm car-less for right now... Sorry for it being a pointless topic, but I just had to post. My beloved, loyal, reliable Camaro is gone now....*** I hope that lady takes care of it!

Well some times you got to let them go, or else you end up being one of those crazy people who have 15 non running cars in the yard they are going to "fix up" one day that we all know won't ever run again, and your yard is privacy fenced in with big "NO TRESPASSING" signs all over it.

I have a one year rule. If I don't work on it within a year, it's gone. I have an '82 Datsun B210 Hatchback that was given to me and I was going to gut it for a demo derby (needs brakes, exhaust, has lots of rust) but it needs a carb rebuild I don't have time to do and the local derby doesn't have separate derby for compact cars, so there is NO WAY I'm belting myself into this thing in a ring full of Delta 88's and old Chevy wagons.

So I'll donate it to the Kidney foundation, and get a tax writeoff!

Why was your car only worth $3000???????

When I bought my 86 bird in 99 with 168,000 miles it was still blue booked at $2,600. That is high but its fair too ask near asking price but I stole mine for $790.00. Now my 82 motorcycle had 7000 miles on it and had a BB of $300 in 00 and I paid 1100 for it sight un seen.

HAhhahah thats my uncle down to a tee. He goes out an buys a new pos vehicle and says yep I'm gonna restore it and have it running in a few weeks. he has no shop and 3/4 of his tools have dissapeared in all 24 cars he has infront of his house.

Its always sad to see your car leave but you at least have 3grand in your hands now.

I don't think I could sell my car, not any time soon at least. I sure do get angry with it, and the lack of horsepower gets annoying sometimes, but there is just no way I could sell it right now. Perhaps the only car I would take OVER my thirdgen would be a first-gen camaro or mustang, even then however it would have to be in superb shape. Thirdgens are just way too awesome cars to own. The styling, especially the rear end, and the interior!

Nixon though, one question to ask. How do you like your Mustang's interior compared to the Camaro? I don't remember what the interior looks like in person, but from pictures I've always thought the Camaro's interior FAR EXCEEDS the Mustang's. What do you think?

Ha ha..I hated to let it go. I didn't even get to kiss it goodbye like I was going to...the woman had the keys and left to get someone to pick it up..apparently her husband or something did, I dunno, they didnt even say a word..I just heard the characteristic sound of it firing up, then I walked to the window to see it backing out and whoosh, gone... Kinda shady...that check had better be good....

My car was only worth $3000 because...Camaros have pisspoor values around here. They're everywhere, and no one seems to want them. I doubt I could've sold it for any more...maybe $3200 but that's about it. 3rd Gens are just too common here...

I LOVE Third Gens..always will..and I do plan to own one in the future...a nice either candy apple red or deep maybe midnight blue...with a 350 LT-1 and a 6 speed.... One day...

The interior...well you know, I owned the Camaro for so long, and the Mustang for so short, that it's hard to compare the two because I'm so used to the Camaro's.....they're just different. The gauge package layouts are decent on both, although I do like how the Mustang tach is on the left instead of the right...easier to look at...BUT the big steering wheel and lack of tilt option makes it a pain in the *** to see the gauges sometimes.. The seats are decent...they're a lot firmer than the Camaro, but the Camaro's were kinda old..you tended to sink in as you heard springy popping noises... I do like the Mustang mini-dash thing...but considering it's a 5.0, the lip is not high enough to be actually able to hold anything on the dash, if you get my drift... It's not good or bad, it's just different. The center console thing is pretty funky though..but I love the fact that the cig lighter outlet is in front of the center console. But, here's a nasty design flaw for ya. CD player is the bottom unit with the HVAC above it...and guess what? That nice little T-shifter just loves to hug that CD player. I can't put in/take out a CD until I'm in Drive or lower.... The coloring is different..lol...it's a red and black interior, MOSTLY red/maroon. Most people can't stand red interiors, but personally...I friggin LOVE them, so it fits me nicely. *** I typed a lot. Basically, it's hard to compare the two in good or bad terms. But I do find a lot more convenient things in the Mustang...such as door pouches, and a glove box, however tiny...the Camaro has neither.. BUT, the hatch release in the stang is powered...aka, have to have the key in and turned in order to release the hatch from inside the car...not to mention the release is INSIDE the glove box. Oh well. Ok, I'M DONE!

Whao, she paid with a check. Not cash or money order. I hope you dont get boned if the check bounces. When I bought my car I paid cold hard cash.

I know for around 3 grand you could get a 70s vette that run good enough and not too badly rusted too not be hard nipple excited about owning a vette.

I love my $800 cars. Bird was $790 cause he gave me ten back for gas but both the bird and wagon were $800 bucks.

but trucks and bikes go for allot around here. a rust out old chevy that runs good is still $7-900. any truck not rusted is worth $1500

Most bikes are worth $1 per cc but it depends. you cant touch a dirt bike new,old or blown up for under $900

I just love living in west texas. Third gen camaros are everywhere but the firebirds are rare. There are about 3 in decent shape around here including mine. Another great thing is there is practically no rust. There wasn't even any snow this year and I don't think they've salted the roads in the past decade.
