Re: Which Cam???

what do you want to do with the car?

I'd use the Comp 260 with a set of 1.6 rockers and upgraded springs. That would be good for general performance.

I'm looking for more hp.
I've heard that if you change the cam you should stick with 1.5 rockers?

Re: Which Cam???

I have the 3790 in my 3.4, It has tons of lowend torque! I also have 1.6 roller tip rockers. it pulls pretty hard.

Re: Which Cam???

It depends on what you're looking for, what I will say is, the edelbrock is the better cam for the money, and that if you the want lift that of the comp one, you don't have to spend more, and actually it would even be slightly($15) cheaper than the edelbrock one is, just look up delta cams, and call or email, tell them make, year, model, and ask for a 260 grind(I'm assuming you want the biggest feasible cam), also just an fyi a 260 grind will work fine on an otherwise stock engine, though obviously other mods would see more benefit with it and visa versa.
And I believe, but am not certain that you are supposed to send them your old cam and lifters, though if that is the case they haven't asked for mine yet..
Oh and I forgot lifters, ask for those too, price is still cheaper than either of your posted choices, its $110 or $115 or something for those and cam, and like $10 shipping, think my bill was $126 all said and done, lifters, cam, shipped to door.

Re: Which Cam???

nobody uses the edelbrock cam, with less intake lift, less intake duration and the 112 lsa it's not a performance cam. It'll make more torque in the s-10 trucks it's designed for but even then the comp 260 will out-perform it every time.

the old crane h260 and crane h272 were pretty much the best production cams you could get.

talk to first firebird, he can set you up with a custom grind that'll work better than the production grinds. either way you'll need new valve springs and 1.6 rockers are a cheap upgrade to get yet another few ponies. Grab a set from a 94-95 3100 v6 at the junk yard.

Re: Which Cam???

no, they are stamped in the first couple years of the 3x00. The rollers came later.

you can certainly get rollers but for the price VS power increase you can't beat the 1.6 stamped GM ones.
