1986 Z28 with IROC 16" wheels: Are F and R different widths?
Hello! I have a 1986 Z28, which has IROC 16" wheels. The strange thing is that the front tires are P215 55 R16, and the rear tires are P245 50 R16.
I want to replace the tires, with four MATCHING tires. I want raised white lettering. I need some advice:
Are the front and rear wheels different widths on my car, or did the previous owner just put P245's on the rear, and P215's on the front?
What are the options (recommendations from other owners) on tires with raised white letters...MUST be American tires, of course. Do share your thoughts and PICS if you have them. THANKS!!!

*** Also, these wheels (front and rear) are 8" wide...so, does that mean that they can take any width tire, from P215 to P245?
*** Forgive me guys...I am not really a "tire" guy. Do share your responses...THANKS!!!

Distance of mounting gace to wheel centerline. Do not confuse w/ backspacing, although they are related 9but measured from different points)
Here's a pic, it tells it all
Yes, any tire suited for a 8j wheel will fit. A staggered width is actually nice if you ask me. Kind of makes it look more aggressive, a little rake and some more sidewall on the rear.

Thanks for the info man!
*** By the way, any recommendation on an American tire with Raised White Lettering that would fit my 16" IROC wheels?

So how WIDE can I go on an IROC 16x8 rim?
What is the widest tire I can mount on these rims?

In the rear, you can fit a BFG 295/50/16 on the stock irocs.
