G-Tech
G-Tech
I'm curious about this little contraption. Nobody I know owns one. I would like to know how accurate they are (compared to real track times, and g tests), and what you guys think of it. Is it worth the money?
I have a gtech, its a nice tool to have. Its pretty accurate if all of the conditions are right, ie flat road and good traction and stuff. The best thing about it is it can show before and after results if you always use it the same way. If I were to do it over again though, I would consider buying a different one.

I really like the dual axis feature and audible warning ideas.

Well I have ran mine at the track and out of 5 runs I got a average of 0.12 quicker with the G-Tech and 5 mph more.

I have had my Gtech for about a year now,I got it with a tire deal, otherwise I probably would have never tried it.Personally, in all the cars I have tried it in including my Wifes Mustang,It was well worth the $139 they get for it. I would never be able to find out how
"Painfully"
Slow the Mustang is compaired to anything I own. Of course nothing compares to actual track conditions, but if you change one thing, and dont have time for the track its got its place.

Maybe I just got a junk g-tech, but mine is not worth a dam! Seriously, I think it just pulls the times out it's ****. It always gave me totally whacked times. For example, it said my modded 350 camaro ran a 14.8, and 15 minutes later, same stretch of road, that my stock 305 formula ran a 15.4. Now. In reality, the camaro runs a 13.6. And the gtech estimated a difference between the two cars of .6. I know there's no way in he11 that my formula is running a 14.2, it's probably closer to a 15.3.
So I took the gtech to the track with me and suctioned it to the windshield while I made a few passes. On the average, the gtech was .2-.3 too slow. One one particular run, it was .7 too slow, and on another, it was .1. As for the mph, sometimes it was 5 mph too fast, and other times 1 mph too slow. This is an actual comparison to what the car ran at the track. And no, I didnt screw it up when I staged. Not only is the gtech inaccurate, it is not consistent worth a dam either.
So IMO, I my butt-o-meter could guess the car's et just about as accurately as the gtech.
but from people I've talked to, others seem to have better luck with the things. Like I said, maybe I just got a junk one.

I ran mine at the track it was fairly accurate +/-.2 tenths. I just bought the new one. havent tried it out but it is loaded with features ie RPM,shift light ,lateraland forward g's continously,FULL graph readout of runs, shows shiftpoints ,horsepower, torque plus much more . it is software upgradable and you can downl;oad runs to your computer but the new one is $250.00.
As for the original it WAS well worth the money

I thought mine was junk, gave me diff. numbers all the time, couldnt run consistent
then back in the day when I used it still I found a stretch of road to try it on that was actually flat, no hills, bumps, or anything, and it ran consistent times, I couldnt compare them to the track since I've never been to one to run, But I'd say they are worth it. the only number I have had trouble getting a believable figure out of it was for the HP it always tells me like 120hp max and I think thats a lil low for a 350, headers, cat back, high flow cat, ram air, tranny, rear chip, blah blah blah.
get one, its worth it, there is even a new one out now, sounds alot better but im done wasting money on toys like that.
