Airgap

Are there 2 diffrent airgaps ?
Ive noticed that the 2 openings
on the top of the manifold can be either
oval.. or one oval.. the other squarish..
am I right?
If yes are there diffrences
within powerband and performance ?

do you mean like the two intakes shown in these pictures?

on the topis a Performer RPM Air Gap for Vortec heads...on the bottom is a regular Performer for Vortec heads.

if you ae talking about the difference in carb mounting locations, then these two pics show the two different mounting patterns. the air gaps have a "square bore" mounting pattern, while the perfomers have a "spread bore" pattern. BUT the performer has two sets of bolt holes...so either a square bore carb or spread bore carb can mount to it.

for more pics, go to the site in my sig, then go to "tech" then go to "edelbrock intake comparison".

as far as i know, the air gaps come ONLY in square bore. but im not sure...look them up on edelbrock's web site.

hope this helps...

well...those two intakes are both air gaps...but one is for vorte heads, and one is for standard heads.

BUT, that makes no difference in the mounting of the carb or adaptor plate.

the second picture is just distrorted. they are both going to be the same. they willl look like this...

by the way...all of the pics i am posting are ones that i took of my own intakes...not edelbrock ones or anything.

yeah that does seem like it is not a genuine air gap. on the edelbrock polished intakes, you can still see all of the "edlebrock" casting stuff on there. on that one, you cant.

how much is that one that you posted? its a hundred bucks cheaper than a regular AG? if that is the case, there is NO WAY that it is a "real" one.
