Proform roller rockers...HELP!
Alright guys, I need help bad. I bought some Proform roller rockers and I went to install them tonight right. Well, I have never personally encountered what went wrong here. Didn't even have the rockers tightened, and we went to rotate the motor. We heard this load pop when we did. Turns out that the bottom of the rocker is hitting the stud!? So we're like Has anyone encountered this problem? We even put a diff rocker, some that my friend has, and they fit ok. I dunno wtf is goin on. This car was going to start tonight instead I'm at a standstill with a prob I have no idea how to solve. Please help.

Look into the pushrods. Some aftermarket roller rockers require pushrod longer then stock.
By eyeballing it, do you suppose a .10" longer pushrod would fix the issue?

After getting some sleep and thinking about it, we borrowed a pushrod length checker. I think my pushrods are just too short. I hope Summit sells the hardened pushrods in a custom length. Thanks for the reply ronterry.

You can get Trick Flow chromoly pushrods in .050" increments for around $80. Those are what I use, and my springs are over 400 lbs of pressure.

What size do you need? I needed .100" longer and got a set of Federal Mogul hardened for $60 Can. Some more popular lengths can be found by mass produced cheaper company's, in the same quality hardened steel as more expensive brands.

Actually I fell in with some guys a few years back that run a racing engine business. I went to them lastnight and bought some of the best ones you can buy at cost. The motor is about 30 minutes away from starting! Wish me luck!

I take it you have aftermarket or non centerbolt valvecover heads? or they have been modified with guideplates and screw in studs?

I had the same problem when installing 1.6 roller rockers. I purchased the Comp Cams adjustable length checker. It started out at 6.8 and every time you spin the pushrod past the white dash it adds .050 to the length. It worked perfect. You do have to however establish proper geometry.
