MSD-6AL rev problem??

MSD-6AL rev problem??

2 anyone w/ a 6AL did u ever have a prob. with the tach dropping 2 0 after it hit 3500 rpm? i think my rev limiter shorted out but i want 2 gain reviews before i contact msd.
if futher explanation is needed let me know

ok here it goes. running fine till...
awhile back i had a coolant temp,idle,and cooling fan problem. i was driving 2 the city going about 85mph then all of a sudden my mph gauge went 2 o the car diseled and it did this about evey 1 to 2 sec. the more i gave it gas the more it shimmyed then died i could not restart. after having towed back to the shop i found that my ecm was not registering and bought a new one. thought problem solved. nope it did it again but now i started noticing that my dr side fan which i have hooked 2 toggle switch would not function and the idle was fluctuating,1200 2 400 rpm and coolant temp rose in a short time. i then went to the relay switch and replaced it. still had the problem finally i retraced my steps and with a test light found my (dumba$$ getting pissed off and not paying attention) problem the relay fuse link that runs off the battery that branches off 2 run power source 2 the relay switches and ect.. was barely held on by a thread. after sodering everything a-ok. now the question is did i possibly surge the unit(6al) while i tried fixing the prob? now of course it sill acting up but i have not lossed power or shift points (automatic) it just drops 2 0 after it hits 3500 and then when i manul shift 2 second it picks up about 2600 thn falls after 3500 then the same 4 3rd 4th and 5th.

what the hell!!

Possibly it could of been damaged. Any sudden "volt" or increase/decrease in electricity to the system can damage the MSD box. They do not even recommend getting your car jumped.

I have the same problem on my automatic. When I installed it the instructions said there was a wire to bypass, somewhere on the firewall if this was to occur. I have looked and looked and could not find it.

i also saw on your sig u run 17/9.5 roh did u have any problem w/ the fender well? did u have 2 customize it at all

No customizing of anything...they bolted straight up and I even have 1 1/2" lowering springs.

ONEFORMULAOVERALL,
There is a tach filter inline on the tach wire(white wire) with in 1-2 feet of the coil. This will be a small black cube about 1 inch square with a white wire going in and a white coming out. Unplug the two white wires at the filter and plug them into each other. This will allow the tach to function again. If your car does not have a filter(which some do not) you will need the tach adapter part number 8910. If this is the case e-mail and make reference to this web page.
