You got it, that and weld ins don't come powder coated. (not a big deal) I run BMR's on my 2000 and J&M Hotparts on my 91'. The BMR's seemed to fit a little better, but that could even be manufacturing tolerances between vehicles. BTW - I have bolt in LCA brackets on both cars. I found the J&M's on eBay at a great price.

What is the point of using the brackets? I mean, what advantages does it give?

Re: Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets

makes the car plant the rear tires which in term picks the rear of the car up. changes the angle of the lower control arms, there is a sticky on this in the suspension forum. just put weld in relos from umi in about 3 days ago. car left harder then it ever has last night. pulled the wheels for the first time on a full weight street car 3880 lbs with me in it. definatly a great suspension upgrade.

What tires were you running to get that launch? I have the UMI weld-ins, still spins quite a bit with 245-50/16 BFG KDWHs.

Re: Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets

Is there an approx power ratio break that points to when they're needed? Although lower gears is going to place the available torque as more important than an hp rating.Hmmm. I thought the relocation brackets were just for lowered cars. I'll have to head on over to the suspension site and read the sticky- Nitro
UMI sure does make a top level product...........

The design is different depending on manufacturer. I bought the Spohns and should have tried someone else. Looking at pics the BMRs probably would have worked better for me. I had to remove quite a bit of material to get the e brake set up to clear the relocation brackets. BMRs design looks like it would have cleared with no modification needed.

Re: Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets

top down solutions(TDS.net) sells a nice set manufactured by alston racing they run from the front where they bolt up right behind the transmission crossmember to the rear where they install just forward of the LCAs on the rear subframe. I went with these because they're a nice beafy tubing and I liked the bolt and weld in approach for convience along with them being the only ones i found that went directly to the subframes and don't interfere with running big exhausts for aftermarket suspension pieces.

This thread is about LCARB's not SFC's. Just FIY, not to be an ******* or anything

The bolt ins have the extra mounting point. They can still be welded on as well.

Re: Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets

quick question about the LCARB's- do you need to use the adjustable LCA's when you install the brackets or can you use the stock length non-adjustable ones?

Re: Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets

I've heard about this suspension upgrade and its benefits at the 1/4 drags but does it hinder/help when taking turns/cornering?

Thanks for your input.

Re: Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets

Im about to put some in myself from UMI. im also putting eibachs in so i know i need the LCARB's. has anyone installed these? it looks like part of the RB hooks up with the bottom shock so do you just lift up the car by the rear end and support it with the jack?

Then you get a bit of added support from the shock mount.

Re: Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets

Weld in

Bolt in

The bolt in can also be welded on for extra support. I got the bolt ins, and I will get them welded on when I put the 4th gen rear in. Bolt ins also allow you to install them yourself.

Re: Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets

From UMI's websight:

Lower control arm relocation brackets reposition your instant center by changing your lower control arm angle for improved traction. Relocation brackets lower the rear of the control arm up to 3", a must for all lowered vehicles to correct lost suspension geometry. By lowering your vehicle, you are changing the lower control arm angle allowing the rear mounting point to sit higher than the front. This will, in return, cause wheel hop and a great deal of traction loss. Lower control arm relocation brackets allow you to correct this angle and gain back much needed traction. On a stock height vehicle relocation brackets will also work excellent to eliminate tire spin and wheel hop by changing the vehicles instant center point. Note: Bolt-on relocation brackets will not work with aftermarket rear ends.

Lowered Vehicles: We do not recommend lowering a 3rd or 4th generation F-Body without lower control arm relocation brackets due to the compromise in the geometry on the instant center. Brackets will significantly improve instant center position, eliminate wheel hop and increase traction. Brackets installed will also help 60-foot times of .10 or better, lower ETs and increase track consistency--a must for all lowered vehicles!

Non-Lowered Vehicles: Product installed on a stock height vehicle will also see a great increase in traction by lowering the rearward angle of the lower control arm, allowing more force to be placed on the rear tires. Relocation brackets have two settings to allow the lower control arm to be lowered either 2" or 3", depending on your preference. Settings are placed in a correct pattern that will allow use of all OEM control arms or any aftermarket control arm (brackets do not require a longer control arm.) Brackets installed on a non-lowered F-Body provide a .10 or better 60-foot; reduction and an increase in track consistency.
