ProBuilt Transmissions

Has anyone purchased a kit or transmission from them? What did you buy and what were your experiences with the products. Price vs. value and such. Thanks

Hey guys:

I bought the total rebuild kit with all the upgrades and the shift kit option. And I also got the 9.5" 2800 Vigilante with it.

The tranny is awesome.....

Doing the work myself, the install was real easy. (I already knew how to rebuild 700R4). It was well worth getting the kit and rebuilding it yourslef if you have the tools, the time, and the patience to do it.

I give it a thumbs up!!!!

Raven glad to hear your experiences. I have a couple questions. How do you like the manners of the stage 3 kit? Can you explain how the tranny shifts(feels). Did you opt for the full manual control? How do you like it? Or if not do you like the automatic approach? How was the customr support if you used it?
Would you do anything differntly if you could go back? Thanks

There are a lot of Specialty tools that you are suppose to use, but yyou can get away with not having some.

I actually ordered mine through Kentmoore at an employee price since they are part of the company I work for. There definitely was a significant discount too... You would be suprised...

Here is the URL:
http://www.spxkentmoore.com/dept.asp...t=1201;16;683;

Look at tool number J-33037 I got it for around $60-80 dollars... Just to give you an idea.

And no, I did not opt for the full manual control valve body. I just got the full rebuild kit, including the servo, extra clutches...etc...

I am still getting use to the transmission and torque convertor. With taht high of a stall convertor, I am spending most of my time above 3000 rpm's, even in daily driving... but that is when I am into 1/4 gas or more... Cruising speeds are fine.

I went from a 1.96 60' to a 1.88 60', but I have only had two runsd since the swap and I had to redo part of the motor since I busted a spring and bent a valve... So there is only transmissions mods with that .08 drop and I was on bald tires too with wheel spin.

Shifts aren't to hard but they are definitely quicker than my stage I Trans-Go shift kit.

And I love the automatic approach, I hate city driving with a stick and since I have lived in Detroit and CHicago most of my life, there is a lot of that. Plus I don't have to worry about missing a gear.

And Dana at Probuilt has always been very helpful. We only had one problem and that was one of my e-mails got lost to him, but I think that was because of a server issue here at work. I definitely recommend them.

And the overhaul only took a day. The longest part was cleaning the Transmission up.

I will see if I can find the price lists from home tonight. But the shift kit and rebuild kit were defintely comparable to the market if not cheaper and Trans-Go is actually the best shift kit out there on the market.

And the Pink Vigilante was well worth the investment. My only problem is that my intake is lowering my max RPM band 1500 lower than what I need it. Time for a MINIRAM.

the customer service from pro-built is great. i called and talked to the guy for a good half hour one day about my trans problems and how to fix it etc. anyway he said he would meake a kit for me for like $80 including a trans-go shift kit, a new servo and a couple of other mods to go along w/ all of this. unfortunately i didnt have the $$ on my credit card at the time and i havent gotten back to him, but he's definately a nice guy who's willing to help

Re: ProBuilt Transmissions

I've been running one of Dana's Street-Strip 700r4's for about 5 years now and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Dana was also very helpful over the phone throughout the whole process.
