Headers without A.I.R.
Hey guys, I know there is an article on here called Everything You Need to Know About A.I.R. but I couldn't find it. I am going to be buying headers here soon and it's much easier to find ones without AIR connections. Could I put on headers without the AIR and be just fine? No codes or check engine lights? I would replace the cats with AIRless cats if I went this route. I have a 92 Camaro 350 with of course MAP which I have heard can affect running with out the AIR. Thanks for the help in advance.

Re: Headers without A.I.R.
Since the Emissions is a Federal item, there is no LEGAL way to not run the A.I.R. tubes in any state, regardless of the Emissions program.
However.....
In the States & Counties that do not test Emissions, they rarely look under the hood, despite the fact that they are supposed to. Can't check the Visual without looking.

CT looks under the hood (at least at the test place i went to). I am not running air on the headers i had (and now have another set without). The only thing that my test place really cared about was if i still had a Cat. After they saw that they ran the test and i passed.

Re: Headers without A.I.R.
the A.I.R system is separate from the ECU so no check engine light or any other problems like that the ECU won't know the difference .

Re: Headers without A.I.R.
ive got the hooker 2460's on mine, ive removed all the emissions crap because its not part of the years test here in the UK on cars over a certain age, and its also got a stainless exhaust system with no CAT and it goes great !
i had some running problems lately but ive got it running much better now, the only SES code ive got now is a problem with the burnoff function on the MAF, but thats due to some crappy wires
So you should be good.
