Summit comes through again

Just wana say..WOW

Had a efi intake and a set of weld rts wheels (fronts) sitting for the last 4 years...yes 4 years!
As this new build is coming along.. And decided to change up the intake to a polished Racing head service intake. yeah and while I was at it I like the looks of the weld aluminum star 2.0 front wheels...well I asked if I could swap out the intake and my RTS wheels for the new weld Aluma star 2.0 wheels..without skipping a beat. was told yes in the new wheels are on their way. it did cost me $ 56 more dollars. that was the price match difference from Jags. Who had the wheels listed for $ 508 dollars each. and Summit have them listed for $533 each..so summit let me have them for $507 ea. ...sweet summit is the best...and yes free shipping even if I only paid $56 for my aluma star 2.0 wheels..summit is the best!!!.

Re: Summit comes through again

Summit let me down, they have always had excellent service but a buddy of mine needed some Wilwood D8-4 alu calipers for his 1963 vette (they are direct replacements for the vette caliper) and one of them is leaking out of the box around the piston. So badle that it's impossible to bleed and that piston is stuck. Well f%$#%$ car stuck on lift, leaking fluid... need a new caliper. So I contact them and guess what.. for them to send a replacement caliper we have to PAY for the new caliper abd then get the total refunded upon sending the old one back. Now, what if someone was working on a monthly budget and had maxed out his funds for that moneth so unable to use his credit card? Yup, car stuck up on lift for a month. Shameful customer service IMO.

Re: Summit comes through again

Summit has always treated me well. When I bought the LS swap pan (pn#12624621) to fit my 5.3 I figured the oil filter would be the same as any other LS engine. Well its not anymore and when I called Summit to get the correct fitting the guy told me all I needed was a filter to fit a new 6.2. He could have sold me a $20 part, but instead gave me the info that led me to a $5 filter available anywhere.

I had a failed B&M torque converter after 4 years of racing. I should I shouldn't say failed there was a crack in the hub. That I noticed when we took everything down to inspect at the end of the year. I called B&M... B&M called summit. B&M didn't have it in stock but summit did so I paid summer for the replacement converter and then a week later B&M had sent me a check in the mail.$460...with a call tag fot my old converter..I do understand your frustration..but I'm convinced 100% it's who you talk to at Summit..I have had new parts sent to me through summit without paying for them and they have sent all tags for the broken parts.. I have been given cash discounts and price matching months after I have found the difference..I have a select few people I deal with at summit...

sometimes I have talked to people and it's like dealing with high school kids that haven't a clue. I call back and talk to my guys

I have been using Summit Racing for almost thirty years and in my opinion their customer service is so good that it's what all other parts companies should be measured by.

Re: Summit comes through again

Just had a great experience with Summit Racing myself. I am re-engineering my fuel system this spring, as soon as I take the car out of winter storage. I am also planning a dual exhaust, modeled after the system photos posted by articwhiteZ on the exhaust forum. In order to get all the things done this year that I have planned, I chose to save some money on AN hose by going with Summit's house brand hose and hose ends, rather than the Russell brand that I have always used with great success.

After having a chance to inspect all the Summit brand pieces, I decided that while some of their stuff is very well made, the hose is not the equivalent of the Russell hose. The biggest issue is the thinner wall and resulting larger ID of the hose. Since the AN hose ends seal against the inside of the hose, having the Summit brand be larger ID due to its thinner wall, might cause sealing issues and I'd rather not take the chance. The stainless braiding of the Summit hose also tends to fray more than the Russell hose. This makes installing the ends more of an issue. To me, it just isn't worth the $40 I saved compared to Russell hose.

A call to Summit Racing customer service, fill out the return exchange form on the back of the invoice, and the exchange is no problem. I will keep and use the Summit hose ends and their in line AN filter as these parts look to be of good quality and should work just fine.

16 years ago, I pretty much built this car out of the Summit Racing catalog. They were then and continue now to be a great company to work with. Thumbs Up Summit Racing!

Re: Summit comes through again

EDIT: My apologies, the dual exhaust system concept that I am ripping off for my own system this spring was not posted by articwhiteZ but rather by Willie. Sorry for any confusion.

Re: Summit comes through again

Summit Racing is amazing.

More than once,
I have ordered products from them one day and they show up the next.

I had to send back (free of charge)two poly transmission mounts before I found the one that works. No problem.

Same with plug wires.

Re: Summit comes through again

Just thought I'd chime in here. I worked for Summit Racing 20 years ago, in their engine shop they had at the time. They always was giving out overly generous warrantee claims to the point of hurting their profitability of the machine shop. I have a lot of respect for them and their business practices and when I do decide to add performance to my car i'll be a customer of theirs.

I also want to add because of my employment there the job I currently have (19 years) really was a direct result of Summit. The only thing the manager interviewing me wanted to talk about was Summit and trickflow and things associated with it... I knew all those trickflow guys back then(I was in the porting division at summit). Lots of knowledge and everything was top secret of course but they were all pretty cool to me. The inventory they had was simply unbelievable! Super rare ford and chevy heads, blocks, racing stuff that just made me drool!

It really is a shame the engine shop didn't survive. It was a fun place to work, I even ended up in a magazine once that I pull out for the kids to see every once in a while! My little girl thinks i'm a big shot- haha!
