what are you guys using to hook up your throttle and kickdown cables to your throttle body intakes? like the 4bbl throttle bodies.

Re: throttle and kickdown brackets?

to the top. I Bought the edelbrock Super victor "E" efi manifold and their 1000cfm throttle body. Similiar to any other fuel injection 4bbl throttle body. Any known linkage that works to support my throttle and 700r4 cables? I see some by edelbrock that bolt to the manifold but would'nt the fuel rails be in the way? others I see bolt to the same bolts for the throttle body, but all the pictures look like they would interfere with one thing or another.
TCI has a great one that bolts to the back bolts of the throttle body but it looks like it runs right into my two vacuum nipples that come off the throttle body. but I may still give that one A try

Traviz

I was facing a similar dilemma when I did my conversion a while back. Lucky for you Elderock (38783) throttle body uses a standard square-bore carburetor mount flange. Look into Lokar TCB-40EDK Edelbrock Pro-Flo Injection Spacer/Throttle/Kickdown Bracket Kit
http://www.lokar.com/product-descrip...-edelbrock.htm

There are possibly other alternatives, but I have not seen anything else that gets around fuel rail interference. Another possibility is Holley 20-112 with 20-119 transmission bracket. This is not a cheap solution either nor is it clear to me if there will be interference between bracket and fuel rail.

I hope this helps.

Re: throttle and kickdown brackets?

On one I worked with some time ago, we took a stock TBI, and cut the whole "plate" thing, with the snail-shell and all that, off of it; drilled a couple of holes in it; and bolted it to that stupid thing those 4-bbl TBs all come with.

We used a stock TBI bracket for the fixed part. We just cut off the parts that held the cable housings and mounted it up on some fabbed-up brackets we made out of pieces of aluminum and steel strip stock.

Re: throttle and kickdown brackets?

well its been a month, i went with a holley carb bracket. part# 20-95

too bad it did not fit directly, but with some modification, it will work I believe. Here is some pics of what I am going to cut off, (circled in red) and drill a new hole (circle with X through it)

opinions?

Re: throttle and kickdown brackets?

Yeah the bracket is the EASY part. That'a a total no-brainer. You didn't even need the Holley one; a stock carb or TBI one would have worked just as well. On the car I referred to, that's what we used.

Now you have to deal with the actual WORK, the part I was talking about; which is, the linkage on the TB. I thought that's what you were asking about, since the bracket part, as your pictures show, is so trivial and a non-problem.

Re: throttle and kickdown brackets?

the part you are looking for is sold by bto or bowtie overdrives i tried many other set ups but for proper setting an tuning this is a good piece an worth every bit of the money considering the parts that are at risk. you might want to talk to them before cutting on that piece because my expience taught me that was only a small part of it. the address is bowtieoverdrives.com

In my other 2-BBL TBI conversion I used a throttle bracket off Q-Jet based 350 motor. In order to maintain correct TV-cable angle relative to throttle pivot I had to use 1" standoffs since my TB is installed on top of 1" spacer. Thats another story all together. Q-Jet bracket is a stamped steel and can be easily modified - bent as required. See photos:
Since you have a 4bbl TB OEM 4BBL Q-Jet bracket probably would need just a simple shaping - bending for a proper fit. These brackets commonly found on early to mid 80's trucks and vans equipped with Q-Jets and 700R4 and was sourced from JY trip.
