Miniram port alignment issue with patriot heads
Looking for some help on this alignment issue I am having with my miniram and Patriot heads, I purchased the miniram used and I think its the 1205 version, 1205 gasket seems to line up with the ports anyway. The pic below shows how the top of the head ports are higher than the miniram. I know these heads use 1206 gaskets and there is a 1206 miniram, my question is: are the ports on the 1206 miniram higher and would seal on these heads? Also I held up the 1206 gasket to my miniram and it looks like there is plenty of material to port it out to a 1206 but it would still set to low on the heads. Any suggestions?

How does the 1206 gasket fit the heads?
I'm seeing what looks like an exposed intake bolt hole in the head, in that pic; doesn't look like the intake is sitting on the heads right at all. Not even in the right place.

The heads have the vortec pattern as well, here is another pic with the intake off.

Re: Miniram port alignment issue with patriot heads
The 1206 fits the head perfectly, I just got of the phone with TPIS and I actually have the 1204 version and the tech said that they mill off a portion on the 1204 miniram right below were TPIS is logo is to clear the valve cover rail, thats the reason the tops of the ports are showing, the 1206 version has the extra material there. so much for using my $200.00 miniram

Re: Miniram port alignment issue with patriot heads
yeah that sucks. you can weld material to it. Probly cheaper to do that than a new miniram

yea, I am taking it to the machine shop this afternoon to get it built up and milled back down. here is a pic of the 1206 gasket to the head, I only have some minor clean up work to match them.

Usually when something seems "too good to be true", it is.
I guess you now know why, in this case.

Re: Miniram port alignment issue with patriot heads
Well I did some more measuring on the intake and found out what I was suspecting, it was setting to low. I bought a set of the felpro 1266 gaskets that are .120" thick and mocked it up and every thing looks good now.
