Tip: HSR swap & upper radiator hose

I recently completed the HSR swap. I installed Mr Gaskets 2661 water neck which takes a 1 1/2" ID hose. The radiator upper connection is 1 1/4". I found an upper radiator hose at Advance Auto Parts P/N E71029. It has 1 1/2" water neck ID and 1 1/4" radiator ID... I am a happy camper right now.

I had tried the Summit Racing adapter hoses stuff, but blew off the upper radiator hose and drop the anti-freeze all over the place. Not to mention, severly over heating the motor.

Yes, that Summit hose adapter is a really hokey set-up; I ran it for two days and noticed the radiator hose was slipping out of the adapter section. I found a flex hose similar to the one you are using and hose-clamped it to the accessory belt guard for additional support. I LOVE my HSR

I am pretty sure that I just used my upper radiator hose from a 1984 Monte Carlo SS and had no problems (using a F-body aluminum radiator).

I used a Mr gasket chrome water neck and put a little dielectric grease on the hose and it worked perfect... until the hose blew off cause I didn't rough up the chrome . Doh!

I beleive I used a TBI upper hose as well as a TBI neck with fittings in the sensor holes.

Its been several years, and I no longer have my L98. But I remember going through two or 3 different water necks to find one that would fit properly.

I don't think anyone who has actually driven a HSR with an open mind will knock it. Bang for the buck, BEST intake upgrade out there for TPI cars. I'd consider the LT1 intake 2nd, but that requires modification, and the remote thermostat is kind of clunky. Minor low end loss, for a decent peak boost and a massive extension of the power curve.
