Check out my 20 dollar Z28
It's an 83 with CFI and an auto. It doesn't run or roll and just about every body panel is rusted beyond repair. I'm gonna restore it from the ground up though. What do you think?

OUCH!! that car is hurting bad. You really got your hands full with that one. Good deal for $20. I probably would've bought it too. I always seem to be finding deals on old cars. you say it doesn't even roll? Seems like it needs about everything, and some rascal ran off with your fiberglass CFI hood.

Dude for 20 bucks, you could get a 400 minute phone call, and just 7 cents a minute after that.
Sweet man, just gotta take car of all that rust.... and it looks like theres alot
More power to ya in your restoration of it...... my only concern would be "Will I spend more money curing all the small problems?" or would it be better to get a car that is structurally sound and work from there? I'm just looking at it from a logical stand point........... But honestly........ I'd work on it and learn all I could
Cause you can't buy the knowledge your gonna get from workin on it anywhere.
Just my 2 cents
Record everything you do man and keep us updated!

I think its great your saving it. Your gonna be spending ALOT of money, but as long as you know it ahead of time. I'm doing the same thing you are with my 86. I've been afraid to post pics of it. Mine was a wreck when i got it, but it was from texas, so at least it doesn't have any rust. Good luck.

I just noticed you live in Houston. You are in the right city for CFI. Lot of fans here. I live just south of Houston. Check out the Crossfire Injection Vault, lots of guys from Houston are members. I'd be glad to help you out in any way I can, sadly I don't have any extra CFI parts but I can let you in on the good junkyards I get my parts from.

If u can get the engine running, I would buy a rolling Camaro... Ive seen a 92 Z28 go, mint condition minus the engine and tranny for 800 bucks.... Than u have a mint car, or even if u have to put a few bucks in, it should be cheaper.... Throw yer engine and tranny in it and u have a car for 820 bucks..... After being rusted, no car is ever the same... If u have the money to put into it, so be it.... By looking at that car, just from whut i saw in the pic, I would estimate u an easy 5000 in professional body repair... Than add on the paint.... I just dont see why it would be worth it to put that kind of money into it when u could buy an IROC in quite good condition and mechanically sound for around 3000... Than work with that car... Take parts from the Z28 if u can use em.... That body looks butchered tho... Its waved all down the sides..... I would part out whut u can.... U could prolly make about 300-500 profit, than put that towards yer new car... I went thru almost the same thing with my sport coupe, totally converted it to an IROC... Major body work was needed... Plenty of rust... Got it how I wanted, than some bitch smacked into me and wrote it off... Now just think if I would have put 30k into it... Theres no way insurance will ever give u 30k unless u get it appraised for that, and when u get it appraised, they will rape u for insurance money... The IROC I have now, I had it appraised at $17500 and insurance said if I wanted to insure the appraisal, my insurance would go from 295 a month to 525 a month.... Its just not worth it... But its totally up to u... Nice deal tho for 20 bucks.. No matter whut u will make yer mullaa back... Later man...

Wow! I thought I got a good deal and mine was $980 more than yours!
If I bought that one my wife would divorce me. Either that or I wouldn't see my unborn child (due July 15th) until he/she was in college!

USA-1, congrats on the tricycle motor on the way! My son already bugs me to drive the GTA and he's only 2 1/2 (I put him in my lap and we cruise around the block)! Train 'em right and you'll never see a ***** in your driveway

I like that. Well, before I start the training I gotta wait to find out what the kid is when it's born.

LOTS OF RUST MEANS LOTS OF BONDO AND REPLACEMENT PARTS. TAKE ALL THE RUSTED PARTS OF AND JUNK THEM. AND THAT MOTOR LOOKS SCAREY. PERSONALLY I DON'T BUY CARS THAT DON'T RUN, BUT THAT JUST ME. IF YOU GOT THE MONEY AND THE TIME GO FOR IT. IF YOUR FUNDS ARE LIMITED YOU WILL BE DEPRESSED WAITING WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IS DRIVING. THERE ARE PLENTY OF $800.00 TO $4000.00 THIRDGENS OUT THERE THAT HAVE NO RUST, RUN AND NEED FEWER REPAIRS THAN YOURS. GOOD LUCK.
It is a project car and looks like FUN. Car crafting is a hobby. I would love to be able to og to ajunk yard and pull an old car that no one really sees on the road anymore and rebuild it fomr the ground up. Heck even if it takes 20 years to do it can be a project he can build friendships over and could be something for him and future or current kids to do. Image it 20 years fomr now when it is almost 40 years old. I would also keep the cross fire for nostaliga reasons...
