I want to make a tech article on this because I dont think there is one, well here are the pics.
Pic 1:
I already finished stripping it and put tape all over the aluminum parts of the rim, also put news paper around my tire to protect it, looks pretty ghetto lol.

Here is my rims after putting 4 coats of black spray paint on them, I got nervouse thinking the black paint got through the tape & stained my aluminum.

Looks good. If the paint bleeds through, just re-polish them.
That would really suck.
Did you get any trash in the paint sitting right by the road? Just wondering.
You have any more pics of the polishing? Before and After?
Well I posted too soon I guess, Great job.

Just my opinion, but i don't really like the black, i think it would have looked better had you kept apinted surface gray/silver, and then polished the bare aluminum.... either way, you did a great job on the rim...

Looks good. I'm going to be painting mine when I finish polishing them. I'm either gonna paint the veins and triangle areas (don't know what to call them) black, or the veins black and the triangle areas graphite.

Those look really great
. I can't wait to get mine painted
and finished this weekend. I personally like the black because it
gives more contrast between the polished and painted areas (it
makes the polished surfaces really stick out). I like how they
look on the car, it gives me more confidence in the color I picked
for my inserts (dark smoked grey metallic). I didn't know how
a darker color would look with the silver ground effects, but it
looks great. Good luck finishing the other 3
, I wish it
didn't take so long, but you have to love the end result.
By the way what kind of tape did you use and how did it work?

redbird_400:
I used an 89 cent can of spray paint
, it works great.
Nazzz28:
I used clear mailing tape, I didnt want to use masking. Lets just say it takes a grip of taping to make sure everything is covered, also leave the surface dull and not polished before you paint, or the tape will not stick so great... personal experience lol. Yea the first rim you see took me all together about 2-21/2 hrs. but then again this was my first rim so the others will be done even faster.

Here is a little secret I will share with all of you.
After I painted the rim, I wanted to experiment and see what I could do, so I deicded to use first 2 steps of the meguairs deep crystal 3 step.
When I used the first step "deposit remover", it took so many deposits and nasty crap out of my rim by the time I was done my white towel was black and I could see the reflexion on it! then I went to step 2 and that made it a bit shinier, then I went ahead and used my magic blue aluminum polish, the result is what you see.
