pay2play,

I have a powder coat gun with a bake oven and spray booth, I found a great deal on some equipment, I run a small online CB business and started restoring radios and decided to offer this service on small auto parts also. I have about $600.00 in the deal on equipment and supplies which is cheap. I have other pics on my website below and will be posting some more soon of some Chrome Runners I jsust sold on Ebay.Joey's CB/Powder Coat Services

I think it looks nice but to me thats too much red. I would powder it like the chrome color. At least for the TPI part.

You should paint in the groves on the TPI and Valve covers black. That would really make it look good! Are you done or do you plan on doing some more?

Is there a powder coat that actually works on headers? I know there are some ceramic coats that work good. Do they apply in the same manner? The next engine I build I'm going to do right. No more half-assing, maybe. That's the goal anyway. Have you ever tried to coat and bake a block?

BTW I really like that. Good theme. Make sure to get the filter can too.

Yes they make a powder now for headers that will withstand 1000 degree heat, it looks real good. There are only 4 colors out at this time though. Thanks for all the good comments.Joey's CB/Powder Coat Services

I had my exhaust manifolds ceramic coated. No headers for 2.8s They have held up great and look wonderful, had them done in Dec.
As far as you powder coating job. I think it looks great. Very clean and different than the average. There is alot of red, but I hear the same thing with mine. I have a red car and trimmed out the engine bay in red. Though I have red wire looms and red silicone hoses and red hose covers. So with the engine bay being red and the trim all red, it seemed to much for me. I went back and decided to paint the bay black to offset the red and it did the trick. Then I polished part of the plenum and painted the rest. The contrast helped the looks of mine alot. Things really blend well now.

I know ya'll have probably heard this before, the red looks better in person, doesn't look like a whole lot of red, the picture brings it out a LOT. In the picture you can't see all the pulleys and brackets which hold the AC, air pump, alternator, etc. are powder coated chrome. It is a little off balance but I have more to go, a far as adding some chrome powder coating to various little items inside the engine bay. I will post some final pics as I go, this was the major part of it and now just showing the car in shows and will be doing little things in between shows. The last time I showed it was in 1989 when I first bought it, got back from show a week ago, first one since I don't drive it much and since 1989, I won the Best Late Model class. I learned a lot and will be applying ideas as I go. Keep the comments coming, I appreciate them and helps me in the direction I need to go.

No, I got a buy on some powder coat equipment, Eastwood prices are a little high for the cheaper guns you get. I get my powder from TCI and Columbia Coatings. The ones in eastwood would work but not flow as good as the "real" type guns. The do good but just not as good.

hey bandit, how much did you have to tear down the altenator to coat it? I imagine that you have to toatlly gut it. I've got a brand new one and I'm afraid to screw it up. Let me know what you did. Thanks

Hey,

It was tore down to just the housing. I have a friend that rebuilds them for a living, he tore it down and put it back together. He is the one I use when someone doesn't want to tear it down when they send it to me for powder coating. But it does have to be torn all the way toi just the housings.

Edelbrock, really. I had no idea. Who sells them? Are they for the f-bodies or s10s & blazers? I have had a ton of people ask if anyone made them.

If they are for f-bodies, I hope they fit better then their 3rd gen strut tower brace!

Does anyone on the board offer Polishing services ? I've just about given up on this plenum polish. I don't seem to be getting very far. ( I can get the ext. plate to polish, but not the plenum!!... different casts of metal)
