Would this suck?

Would it suck if I put old school SS badges on or in my vehicle if I had performance comparable or better than that of a SS?

Personally, I wouldn't like it. If you have the performance of a Viper, can you put Viper badges on your car? You could, but its not a Viper.

But its your car.

I agree with MetalliCamaroRS... if the car isn't an SS, it shouldn't carry SS badging.

Thats similar to what I was shooting for. By the time I am done (not theoretical, realistically) I will have SS performance. I thought it might look interesting considering they did not make thirdgen SS's. It is not my intent for this car to look stock anyway. Doors will be scissored, and I will have that 5 inch spoiler on the back. I wonder if the IROC-Z decals on the sides of the car are small enough to fit on that wing...

My only comment would be to just make sure you don't give the rice community something to use in an anti-power website.

do you have a z28? if i were you i would put the new z28 camaro's badging on and paint them a different color or something to make them stand out.. i think they look really clean n cool. either the new z28 badge or the oldschool 67-69 z/28 style looked mean too.

It would be better if you could back it up, but anyone that knows 3rd Gens, may not understand why you have SS on a car, that with that era was never made.

To make if different I'd have some custom badges made.... kind of like some WS7 badges I've seen around. I think Mecham makes a Camaro Z29.

Easiest and cleanest way would be to just have them made as decals that go over the existing badges.

I've already decided against the SS badging (too easy to steal, even though I already have the emblems.. part of my purchase) ... Pending the release of this 5 in spoiler, I am going to try to have the IROC-Z door decal (the long one) put on the back of the spoiler. Wish they would release the spoiler already.

I would not tell anyone that anyway, most people know what I mean when I tell them I drive an IROC.

ah i had something like this on my mind... but it wasnt a SS, it was a ZL1... my neighbor has a 427 aluminum block.... he was gunna rebuild his 77 vette with this... but i dunno what hes doing with it.... if i get nice aluminum heads and have a 6spd swaped in... i wana paint it black with gold stripes and re make a ZL1 badge, to look like the Z28 badges on the car now... get a nice cowl hood and beef up the suspension... maybe throw out 500-600hp... big a-ss 12 bolt with 4.10's or maybe bigger... it would have to be a strait out race car... 8 to 9 sec cars.... now thats a sweet car.... about the SS.... yea sure if u can back it up... i say go for it... its nice to pay a tribute to the cars of old... i say hey.. u wana make a real Z28 and make ur own 302.. go ahead... ill help...

Badges? We don't need no steenking badges!!!

If you like the SS emblems, go for it. I hate seeing fake SS 4th gens all the time (I have a real one), but since there never was a 3rd gen SS its not the same thing to me. I esp liked the grille emblem on Bruce Hawkins' car....it was a neat car overall, too bad he sold it.

Little late, but I say don't do it. I don't like misbadging at all. About as far as I will go is to put "8.2 Litre" badges from a Cadillac Eldorado on my Scout because It is getting the 8.2 Liter engine (500ci) I may put a cady badge on the valve covers since it is a cady motor.

I specifically kept the original badges on my car and will never add TA or GTA badges, even when I go with an V-8. That's why I made my own RAIF badges. I did put the Grand Am "Ram air V-6"badges on though. That was in lieu of the vinyl stickers that came with the hood. I also have bird emblems from a 2nd gen, again in lieu of vinyl stickers..

I totally agree Redraif. Omnipointgoke, if you put the badges on, you might get made fun of like how some young Honda owners put Type R emblems on a Prelude. Much like your "Camaro SS", there never was a Prelude Type R. You may have the power to back up the badging, but it would not be real or authenitic. In answer to your question. What's wrong with having the cubic capacity of your engine as emblems? GM did it so why not you as well? Better yet, be creative and fabricate your own.

i had this same idea a few months ago, i even made a couple aluminum badges from lost foam casting but didn't put them on. by putting them on i dont think i'd be a poser like if i had put iroc badges on my SC since they never had a thirdgen SS. it would be more like a tribute. i have the power to back it too.

Like this?

Yes those are SS emblems on my Camaro, What do I tell people I drive? I tell them I drive a Camaro. Why did I put SS emblems in place of the RS ones? Because there is nothing RS left on it. Can it back up the emblems? Why yes, yes it can.

I had bought the emblems off of e-bay about two years ago from Thirdgen Resource. But I have heard that they have stoped producing them, but you might want to give them a hollar and see if they have any left.

Take the "RS" emblem.....

Buy doubles of each one........cut them so you can have the "SS" emblem....

Easier way to do it.....they did stop making them....
