Im on my work of pilishing my formula wheels ..
im on the last step on the one you have to use the compounds
uffff....its turning so cool กกกก
they look like new กกกกกก it really looks like chrome
i dont mind repolish with compound once a month .
But i was thinking......alternator is aluminum ?
can it be polished?...and how about the air cleaner its steel ? but can it be polished with the same process ???
maybe it will rust but other parts ..what can be polished ?
Pics thanks

The armiture, and the windings make the alternator so heavy. I read an article once where someone polished an alternator. It came out looking great, but it took forever due to all the dips, and non-flat edges.

I polished mine and it looks great. It's one of a kind, and I'd do it again. It took me about 8 hours though.

Exactly.I used flap wheels on my die grinder and it made pretty short work of the rough cut.

So far we polished 2 for my car. Autozone crap. When the last one crapped out I decided to keep the case and get it rebuilt instead. We only polished the front section and painted the back candy apple red to match the rest of the engine trim.

Picture color is a bit off, but I think you can see it.

Uh nope pic is crappy. Ok here is just the alt while we polished it:

Here's how crazy we got. We polished the exhaust manifolds befoer tehy were ceramic coated. Talk about polish crazy. You can polish steel, but you will have to clear coat it so it does not rust.

I only like to polish flat or rounded surfaces, non of that awkard angled dips where you have to have spend hours to cover just a few inches. I am very impatient, I don't like to wait for anything. Polished parts look great and makes the engine bay look brighter and more exciting.

Well the worst was polishing the master cyclinder. Oh man I wanted to throw in the towel so many times, but it came out awesome...Now if I can just use it when I switch to a disc brake rear.

I think the air cleaner is made out of steel, but I may be wrong.
