Undercoating removal

Does anyone know of an effective way to remove undercoating from under a car?

The jacka$$ I bought my Impala from found it necessary to have Zeibart undercoat the car even though in 52,000 miles it has never seen snow or salt and is only driven in the rain when it absolutely has to be.

I would like to do this with out having to disassemble the entire underside of the car.

try paint stripper and paint thinner... mix it together and let it sit for a while....dont inhale too many fumes...you might go to sleep for a little while...lol

A propane torch with a flame spreader tip & a 2" putty knife works well w/o having the chemical/rag mess. Much free time still required though.

Out of curiousity, may I ask why you want the undercoating off ?

Whoa!!!!

Carb Cleaner!! If it's relatively new it comes off with just a wipe, if it's old, you'll have to rub it a little bit but it works.

It just isn't needed on a car that sits in the garage throughout the winter and any other time the weather isn't ideal... I want to avoid scraping, sanding, blasting, or any other process that is going to mar the underside of the car.

r u kidding me? that is a 96 impala and there is a ton of undercoating on it and you are worried about nicks? it is the underside of the car, it already has 52,000 or more miles on it , a heat gun might work with a scraper, then apply Por-15, if you want the car to last, just leave it there.....

i agree, leave it on there. i would rather have it protected even if it sits in the garage.
