How much for a (good) paint job
I was reading a post from today by a guy that said he got his car prepped, primed, and 2 coats of paint AND 2 coats clear coat for only $600. I know this is really good, but I thought most complete jobs cost like $2500 or so. Anyone ever get their car painted by a shop? Did anyone ever prep it to save desent money? That's basically what I want to know. I'm not gonna sand and prep my car to save $100. That job is a serious pain in the ***
Thanks!!

Try a search, you'll find tons of info. Most will agree that you get what you pay for. As for Maaco, not all are bad, not all are good. They are independantly owned, so each one may produce different results. If I was gonna get a paint job on a daily driver, I wouldn't pay over $1500.

Josh - yes i was referring to your thread. And regardless of what some say the paint would cost, it appears that the guy doing it for $600 only wanted 150 for the paint, leaving 450 for all the hard stuff. I guess this answeres my question. about 450 for body work...yuk!
I guess its worth it for that tho, 450 buys a new posi
BTW - thanks for the heads up on the DM meet.

if you get decent paint, you'll have over 600 in just materials alone. that's not labor. if it needs bodywork then that's just more. i don't believe there's a good paint job to be had for 600 dollars. Whoever says there is is cutting corners somewhere.....I had more than 600 in my paint job and i did EVERYTHING myself.
