what to use for protection?

i just stripped my rims and sanded them, and polished them up all nice nice..... i'll have some pictures up later to show off to you all. but, how do i proctect it so that it doesn't mess up my beautiful work? should i clear coat it again. wax it? i dont' know.. please tell me.

wax... dont try to re clear coat them.. it would ruin all the hard work you just did...

don't use wax. even carnuba wax has some traces of abrasives that will scratch it.

normally, I just use car wash when I wash the car.

after it sat for 6 months and I wasn't around to maintain it, I had to reapply the polish and it looks great again.

theres nothing wrong with wax

it wont scratch it. and it does help protect it.

if you do a short search you'll find that most other people that polished their rims also used wax.


also... if you are going to let the car sit for 6 months, put a heavy coat of wax on them, and 6 months later... wipe it off and they look just fine.

i'm just going bywhat someone told me, that abrasives will lead to scratches.

Aluminum polish is an abrasive.

If anything, a wax is ALOT finer than aluminum polish. The wax will not scratch the rims.
