I think you should get one, especially if you need a hood, then post a pic so I could see how my black GTA would look with one since I am considering getting one soon also..

Looks pretty good! Check out the black TA in this link with the same hood. I wish there were more pics of that car shot from different angles .

IMO the RaII hood looks just plain mean on the 85-90 trans ams. The way the front nose is flat and low really offsets the large hood. The earlier and later birds with their, i guess you could say, anorexic front ends just look goofy with the ra2 hood overpowering the look of the frontend. Sonar_un's trans am is a real testament to how bad *** that hood can look on the right year trans am. So yeh, I think your car would look great with the Ra2.

Not a fan of the RAII on our cars but hey its your car! I say go w/ a stock gta hood or if you are going aftermarket go w/ the RAI.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks the RAII hood is hideous. it doesnt match the flow, lines and shape of the car, it looks like someone glued a big rounded snorkel onto the car. it looks good on 4th gens because it was designed to flow with 4th gens.

that cowl hood looks good though

Flyinlow89 I agree w/ you 110% it just doesn't belong on the car! As for that cowl it looks pretty good! I have never seen one like that before! I think the best hood for a gta is a gta hood! For some reason the gta hood just seems to go w/ a gta imagine that lol

I agree 100%. The RAII just doesnt go with third gen cars at all.

Flyinlow89, your right, the RAII never went with the lines of the car, the lines just dont match. The RAI hood is a completely different story however, it matches completely.

After spending a lot of time and effort deciding I also went with the same cowl hood instead of the RAII. I love how subtle the cowl hood looks on the car. Follows the lines better too. I also frenched the rear air extractors from my GTA into the new hood. I will get pictures after paint,

Tyler

I like both RA 1 and II; I have had both on my 87, and switched mainly for hood clearance reasons. I agree the RAII doesn't go as well with the less rounded third gens, but it looks great with the 4th gen mirrors...they help it flow into the rest of the car. They had the same effect on Redraif's car (RA1).
