Check this sad GTA out wrecked today
This guy was actually had this up for sale when a semi came around the corner he had it parked on and ran over him. I gave them my business card maybe I can pick it up cheap for parts. He has nice black GTA power lumbar seats, a nice wood grain Grant series steering wheel. The Rims are 17" have a CObra in the center caps the right front had some pretty good curb scrapes from where the truck drug it along the curb. Thought I would share the sad demise of another GTA.

Yeah the semi stopped and I guess the car belongs to this guy I gave my card to's sister in law. The tires were completly bald so I am thinking they didn't want to put out $500 or so for 275/40/17 tires she had on it and decided to sell it. Maybe I can get lucky and pick it up cheap. It almost looks like its fixable but I am thinking frame damage up front. So the owners family has all the truck drivers info I am sure it will get paid off by insurance.

Anyway that looks fixable, only needs that side inner/outer fender,a hood headlight assembly, straighten or replace the radiator mount and maybe a new bumper(may have ripped where the bolts stick through to the fender holes.

Yeah, looks totally fixable. Hey, look at what 3.1 Eyecandy's GTA turned into after it was wrecked. That looks like nothing comparitively.

Oh I believe the car is totally fixable, I just don't think the insurance company will pay to fix it. The bluebook is only around $3k and a shop would probably qoute higher than that to repair and repaint. So my guess is it will be totalled out by the insurance. Which makes fixing it yourself a questionable venture. If you were going to keep it fine but you'll never get your money back out of it trying to sell it as a salvaged vehicle. It would be worth more in parts. Considering it was up for sale when it got hit I doubt the owners love it enough to fix it to keep. I think they will push for getting it paid off, and take the money. If I was in there shoes I would puch to get it paid off adn salvaged then buy it back sell all the parts and end up with around $5-6K for a car that you never would have got that much for in the first place. Then re-invest in another 3rd gen.

I didnt even realize they were cobras until you said that. I actually kind of like them until then.
That looks salvageable. Id offer him maybe $1000 and go from there. Youd be surprised at how eager people are to get rid of wrecked cars. My friend recently rear ended someone in his 95 Accord and he sold it to me for $400. (yes i know, i bought a r*cer
) Brand new motor, tranny, paint, interior. All I did was throw a new hood on it and now im getting offers for 3500 on it. Plus its a v-tec motor so you know all the dumb r*cer kids are drooling over it. Anyway, buy it from him, put some time into it, make a profit. Just my $.02

completely fixable. Mine was MUCH worse than that. Bill ran me 3500 at the shop. The truth is with these cars, it takes ALOT to total one out. The old myth of front-end frame damage completely destroying them is FALSE. All it takes is a little time on the frame puller and somebody good with a measuring tape to check that it's back to stock specs. Really - that's worth fixing. A rolling GTA chassis is worth 3000 in collector value alone.

That bites. Another one off the streets for a time. I hope to see it rolling around again sometime next year...? If it was in Hawai'i, I'd hit the owners up with an offer... Be nice to own two GTA's. But definitly hit the semi truck company up for some sort of settlement.

Looks like the GTA had been recently repainted too. No badges anywhere, but i see the hole on the nose where the bolt would go through.

3000 for a rolling chassis? Like, that means, it runs? Cool, I paid less than that for mine... rolls real good, too. Our cars are uniframe, right - meaning that the frame (all of it) is the chassis?

More like about $50-70 once it's stripped at the metal scrapper. Granted you might find them everyday in every yard you go to - but I sure as heck don't. I called 20 yards the other day looking for one part (in the middle of Houston no less) and nobody had ANY Trans Ams or GTA's from 88 - 89. They're getting more rare by the day.
