Firebird datona hood install - wow

I got around to installing my datona hood, again.

I got it used from a guy who gave up installing it as well. I'm pretty sure ASCD made it: http://www.hotrodssuperstore.com/82tranorfirh.html

Anyway. First time around it wouldn't work at all. I redrilled a few of the bolt holes, and got it so it lines up and closes great. Only problem is its a little high in a few spots, and this cannot be corrected it seems.

...Hinge mod. I had to move the holes a little. like 1/4 just to get the adjustment final.

..ANd finally the inside. Kinda heavy construction. The front part with teh latch and spring is not bad at all. The hinge mounts are simply steel stock riveted in.

Like 20lbs. I didnt have a scale around so I didn't weigh it. If it comes off again, I'll try.

It weigs prolly half of the steel one.

you know, those steal hoods are like 100lbs. so, your probably looking at a 45-50lbs hood.

I dunno about that. If the steel hood is 100lbs, than this one is a lot lighter stil. I can lift this hood with 1 finger on each side with ease.

This may sound strange to you but you can lower the sides of that hood some (your 2'nd pic ) by loosening the hood hinges from the car and by moving them slightlly forward or back then tighten them to the hood,, it worked for mine. I just can't remember which way moves it up or down. Drop me a line if you have anymore questions..
