best tire sizes for stock rims

Since my decision to enroll in college, I gotta make dues with the 16x8's I have. whats a good size tire to put on in the back to give it a good meaty look? Should I do the front tires slightly smaller than the rears? Im going to have a polish shop next to my job clean and polish up the gold center and re-chrome the lip. so what do you guys think?

245/55 16's are the factory spec size
255/55 16's are the biggest you can really go and look like this

depends on tire manufacturer

you can fit some BFGoodrich Radial T/A 295/50SR16 .. they'd be a bit tall.. (throw your speedo off by like, 10 mph)
gives off that nostalgic look..

that's going a bit crazy cuz it'll probably mean that you'll have to bend your wheel well lip..

some 275/50/sr16 would work pretty nicelly on the back.
