Polished Z28 Grid Tail lights
had nuthing but time on my hands today so here is the todays project.
seperated the halves and buffed the lenses, painted the grids, painted the inside silver area, repaired a big ole hole in one of them. put them all back together. could make a good tech article with all the pics i took just gotta figure out what i need to do to make it an article if anyone thinks it would be usefull.
Let me know whet ya think....
Now if i only would finish painting the car i would have a place to mount em.
Jeff
this pic is before and after buffing but before painting the grids

How did you get them apart? Worked on mine in the sink last winter, used a bottle brush to clean them out good, polished the heck out of them. Yours look better than factory new, should set off the rear end.

they come apart pretty easy, a couple torx heads screws and some tabs on the bottoms and some gentle pulling to break the seal on em.
here is what i used
plastic polish (eastwood)
6" loose buff wheel (eastwood)
fusion paint black
krylon aluminium paint
bench grinder
silicon sealant to reseal the halves keep water out

compound only need 1
http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/p...iProductID=988
buffing wheel only need 1 but 2 never hurt
http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/p...iProductID=881
all other product are local purchased. fusion paint for plastic masking tape utility knife ect...
oh and 400 grit sand paper and a block, sand those dot numbers off. makes for a better finish.
Check out Josh's sticky also, give you all the basic info needed to do the buffing and sanding, I did my sanding dry but it works the same. After i buffed i taped and painted the grids black with the fusion paint. If you buff the black grid lines the do come off, the black center peice that attaches to the lights is solid and can be buffed.
