man, it looks killer right now! I can't think of anything on that list that'll make it look worse tho so it could only get better. It'll be interesting to see those vents with the high rise spoiler. I'll be checking back to see how it looks.

I think he means fender vents. Do you have the newer front bumper if not i would do the conversion.I would also shave the antenna but not the handles and I also like the side moldings they add some width to the car to me. Mine is totally apart right now also getting everything redone. Right now i have the interior gutted and i cut the reat seat brackets off and fixed a few spots one where the heater core leaked after i changed to the dex cool but it wasnt a big hole. So i take it you pulled all the carpet up and also check the inner rear wheel wells where they meet the body that is a common spot. I would just look it over real well cause if you floor has a spot there might be others. After my floor boards are primered im going to cover them with truck bed liner that might be something to think about also seals real well and sound deadens. Make sure the fenders come off also and check behind them thats another common spot ive seen at the bottom in front of the rockers.

I think the TA fender vents would look awesome with 91-92 gfx! Just a thought!

No side molding looks awesome with the car shaved..hint, hint!

Not sure that anyone on here has Trans Am Fender vents. Me and Flynlow have 1981 Z28 fender vents....is that what your talking about? Well...on my old 84 Z28 (92 Z Clone) I did install Trans Am fender vents in the lower portion of the fender...

IIRC he has the 81 Z28 vents, not T/A vents.

I would leave the car red, drastic color change cars usally don't end up looking right. (Underbody/hood/etc different colors)

There are exceptions, but it's an amazing amount of work. Look up user 86irocet. (I think that's his user id)

The T/A vents would look cool with the earlier GFX, 82-84 or 85-90. I don't think they would look right with 91/92 gfx as there would just be too many vents on the car, let alone they would be going different directions. (shudders)

JMHO though..

thanks for the info and suggestions, keep them coming.
by TA vents i do mean the thirdgen trans am fender vents, im installing them in the same spot the trans am has them. u guys know the way the plasitc vents fits into the fender and u can see the gap going around it? what if i used body fill to cover the gap around it to give it a nice clean look. over time would the body fill crack or cause a problem?
how would i go about this the right way??

ya i was thinking of shaveing the antenna but im worried about the radio reception, is there a way i can shave it and hook up some hidden antenna or something?any ideas, cuz i need my radio.

i know changeing the car colour is more work but its all good. i have known the owner of the shop since he started so i trust him, he does good work and hooks me up with priceing. he turned my 84 firebird into a 88 trans am and repainted it a viper blue, so i know whats involved. sry guys but im changing the colour red 4sure, im just not a fan of red.

i have been thinkin of shaveing the z28 badges off the gfx, what do u guys think?? im shaveing the front and rear for sure.

thanks for helping me, keep the ideas comming!
thanks

jason

I had a feeling that's what you were aiming for

I did that on my old 84 Z28. They were installed for about 2 years...and yes, eventually, they did end up getting some fine, hairline cracks. I almost think it would be better to fab them from sheet metal...then weld them in...that way, they wouldn't crack.

Thinking about doing this myself. Bodyfiller alone, I personally would not trust...unlike surfaces tend to have different heat and coolong expantion temps. W/o a good bonding agent I think a prob could arrise. My plan is to get Fuzor (sp) Alot of people have had good luck with it boding gfx and then filling over them with fiberglass and finally a light sweep with filler!

I have mine shaved. I took the part that was in the fender and pulled it into the car. Placed it above the passenger side knee panel. The antenna, I then slid thru the car behind the radio pod & into the driver side above the knee panel, then screwed it onto the base unit. It works decent. I can get the strong channels in the area, but the ones with a weak signal don't come in well!
