Mudflaps? What do you think?

I have a 1988 GTA and I put black mudflaps on it that say Trans Am in white. I drilled holes for the mudflaps and now I don't know if I like them or not. I wish i wouldn't of put them on because they have done more bad then good. If I take them off then you would see some holes along with holes that were drilled in wrong places. What do you guys think?

I like simple mudflaps a whole lot better than mud rooster tails along the side of my car, and I sure like mudflaps better than stone chips all over the car. 99% of the people here hate them, but apparently they don't mind a car full of stone chips.

I like mudflaps because they serve a function....Im waiting on my current 'bird to get painted, so I havent got them yet, but on my last one, I had the trucker flaps with the naked chicks on them....it looked good to me and everyone I talked to liked them.

I have a pair that I still need to put on. I got them thru Classic Industries. They are the molded splash gaurds that mold to the contour of the car. They are in black so I hope they will look good on my white car. The bad thing is they costed $90 for the set.....OUCH!!!!!!!

mudflaps on a thirdgen?

I do believe that is chronicled in the thirdgen constitution as being "High Treason"

remove them at once! and if you dont want loads of rock chips or mud rooster tails then dont drive through mud or gravel, pretty simple, besides, i think rock chips or mud on a car looks far better than a car with mudflaps.. they are the same principal as the car bra, you are trying to protect something so as to keep it looking good but make it look worse in the process

and cmon, the naked lady mudflaps? what next, a CB antenna with a tennis ball on the end, a trailer hitch, and allterrain tires on there?

I have black colored mudflaps on my car (91' Firebird - White) and I think it looks good. It serves in protecting my car too. I don't think my car would look the same without em'. I like them.

I have black mudflaps that say camaro on the bottom and like them a lot. It sure beats scraping rubber off the quarters after the 1/4 and protects from stone chips, etc. My car is the '91 teal color.

Spoken like a true city boy. Not everybody has well groomed, paved city streets to drive on all the time. My IROC has stock Z-28 mud flaps that are almost totally un-noticable, and to me it's worth it to protect my paint. I didn't spend 6 months restoring my car just for it to get chipped to hell and start rusting. If you like little rusty spots all over your doors and quarter panels, then all the power to you. I cherish my car too much to put up with that sort of junk.

Well if you are taking your car offroad then i think you have more problems than just rock chips to contend with, i dont live in the "city" but i dont drive on unpaved roads either
havent had mudflaps in the 2 years ive owned my car and it looks no worse for it

if you NEEd mudflaps i think you NEED a pickup truck instead

but i might be biased cuz i think they look a$$

Yeah, those mudflaps look horrible on my car. Oh, wait. Can't even see them. They stick down 1" below the ground effects, and stick out about an inch at the bottom.

My car has never been driven on a dirt road since I painted it, but I still got a couple stone chips in my paint before I put the mud flaps on. Maybe parking lots and side streets in Miami are a lot cleaner than the rest of the city (and it's residents), but up here we have more than just cement and bricks, so some dirt and debris is bound to get onto the roads. My tires are soft as hell and kick up a ton of junk. When it rained, you could see a 'rooster tail' spray on the side of the car that looked like hell.

I guess wanting to preserve my car makes me a *******.

actually jim your car looks great, youve come a long way since the firebird days, and true enough, from that picture i cant see any mudflaps. Keep up the good work and no doubt it will be in tune one of these days.

But in the mean time.. HOE DOWN! *stomps foot to the music*

Thanks for the compliment. Believe it or not, I appreciate it. I loved my firebird at the time, but I certainly would not accessorize it the same way if I owned it now. For example, no daffy duck mudflaps will ever appear on my IROC or my GTA, just stock, OEM, un-noticable mud flaps.

And let me get my straw hat before we start the hoe-down.
