Hey, that looks nice! It looks so much better on 85-90 Firebirds then the 91-92s... IMHO

Hey man! That looks bad a$$!! I got my car out of the body shop also. W/ a Ram Air II hood. Its painted Red. It looks just as sweet on a Camaro. I had to put it back in the body shop because I am way to damn picky, and wanted a few things straigtened out. Tomorrow night I will get my car back though, and I will post pics as soon as the film gets developed. (Probabally Friday, or Saturday)

It looks tough.... and looks good on any thirdgen bird. But it matches the rounded 91/92 lines better than the squared 85-90 lines. Fact, not opinion.. it's just a better match aesthetically.

I'm looking for something like that. But I want it to be a lower profile. How tall is that one? Do they make one that is lower? I want something like the fourth gens. I don't want it to go all the way back. Do I have to make it myself?

Ben87GTA - Did you have any problems with US Body as a company? I had some terrible problems with them. Their hood came warped, and cracked, plus thier customer support wouldn't pay for the damages, or even reimberse me any money for it. I eventually said.. F'it, and paid a body guy to fix all the crap that was wrong with the hood. Costed me over $300 in repairs.

Okay, now that I'm done beating off while looking at that picture, I have a quick question....how much $$$? and as stated earlier, does anyone have a pic of that hood on a 91-92???

If they do, and it looks good, I'll drop my idea of buying the Ram Air hood from the 96 Birds.

Oh yeah....could that be made functional by sticking a K&N cone on the end of your TB???

well, the l98 is speed density, so you have to have the MAF up there too. luckily, it fits perfect on the end of the rubber piece that goes from the TB to the square air baffel.. when i run it at the track i do straight MAF -> TB (no element) risky, but its MAD air... you could put a cone filter on the end of it, but I'm making a custom rectangle box like the new RA setups have.. hard without the inside hood baffling like the new ones have though. should be done in like 2 weeks, then pics go up

When I saw the 91-92 Bird with it the hood stuck up wayy too much, it looked bad to me. It didn't match any of the car really...

Also, not all L98s are MAF, 90-92s are speed density so it all depends on the year of the car. BTW, for Ben, MAF and Speed Density are two different system, a Speed Density system uses intake manifold pressure (if I remember right) and a chart system to caculate air flow while the MAF measures it directly... just a little side note..

how can the hood 'stick up' more on a 91/92 Firebird? It's the same car between the front and rear fascias. If it doesn't match the 91/92, then it doesn't match the 85-90 either.

Sorry about that MAF == Speed density comment.. wasn't thinking straight. my L98 is not speed density, so it uses the MAF setup... ugh. hate when it gets late and you can't think straight

J, it has to do with the curvature of the front end. Like it is all nice and smooth going up, then wam, two big nostrils. This is my opinion of how it looks.... The earlier ones have this nice blunt nose, so there is no line to break.
Hope that explains what I mean....

And Ben, thats cool :-) Just wanted to make sure terms weren't truely getting confused because you know somebody will read that then later get confused :-)

Later all,
RS
