My 18' rims and tires are for Sale!

Hey Guys,
Since I saw the picture of CarNdrvr's rims,
I am going to sell my 18' IROC-Z rims and
get the Boyds 18' rims as seen on the Beautiful Blue RS of CarNDrvr.

Tell me if you guys are interested in them.

They have been professionally polished. And
the tires are top of the line Bridgestone
Pole Positions II. The tires alone were $330
each. I am thinking about $2300 for the whole package. The rims themselves are $1000, the polish and paint job added another
$480.

Lower the price man. No flame but that is WAY too much I got a set of priginal ZR-1's and Dunlop SP2000's ($411.00 a piece just for the tires) for $900.00 plus 65.00 shipping

Yea man you will never get that much out of those. They are beautiful, but they still look stock and are used. Plus you never get as much out of a car or parts as you invested unless its a classic restoration. I would fin $1500 to be a fair price. Sorry man I hate that it has to be like that.

Oh no....that's kewl....I was just offering
them to you guys first. I have already been
offered $2000. Again, they have been
treated to custom polish and paint. Not the
crappy stuff you get when you order them
from the manufacturer. They have a total of
about 1000 miles on them. Again, the tires,
alone were $330 and still under warranty.
BTW, whoever said the Dunlops are $411 a piece are out of there mind. The Bridgstone
Pole Position II is the best tire you can get
out there. They come stock only on the Porsche Twin Turbo. Go to any tire store and ask them and get the prices.

Thanks

I really like the Torque Thrust II's too. I thought about getting those myself. I saw them on a car done up by one of the magazines. It was a '91 Z28 with those on it. The Boyd's just hit me right though. I actually bought my car with the Boyd's on it already. I could have got it without the wheels, and got my own, but I couldn't see another rim looking any better. If I had gotten another wheel, it would surely have been the Torque Thrusts.

Well, you have to beat the hell out of the inner fender well, and clearance the outer lip as well. It takes some time, but it is worth it. You can't tell by looking, but the outers have been clearanced.

Here is the adress:

They are the "Tuned" wheel, although I cannot find a picture of the wheel byitself?
Thanks for your help!

I think i'd get the TT2's personally, but it's not my car. I'm sure it will still look tight, though.

I can't find a good pic of the "tuned" wheels, looked all over, the best is on Boyd Coddington's site. Wish they had a higher res one, like they do for their other wheels. Those wheels are all awesome though.

i personally like the IROC 18"s better. the others look nice but. that stock look is just amazing with that size. i wish i could afford those rims and tires but i have other things to buy first before i put new rims and tires on. i would keep those IROC's and i dont really care for the TORQ THRUSTS II on our cars. looks too.. i dont know what i am looking for but. i like to be different. and everyone and their mother has those rims, on trucks, wagons, shoeboxes, ect..just go with something different so you stand out and everything will be perfect. it all works out in the end. have fun. and if i had the money i would buy those 18"s off of you tommy. and remember the 1990's are the rarest so have fun with them and keep it rare.

Red Demon - Nice job! I tried working with that pic, and couldn't get it to turn out just right. Was too lazy to make the rest of the rim myself lol. I like the Torque Thrust II's better myself. That particular rim though, I don't like as much as Boyds other rims.

MrIROCZ,
What kind of sh*t do you guys smoke in California? I gotta get me some of that. I dont like to sound like I am riding on someone's d*ck, but your car looks sweet as H*ll the way it is. Basically what I am saying is, PLEASE DONT WRECK THAT POOR CAR BY TAKING OFF THOSE IROC WHEELS.

Wow, I didn't know you guys felt so strongly about this. It's just that I have always
wanted this style of rim. Well I guess I must reconsider. I was supposed to go down today and place the order...

Hmmm, thanks for the feedback guys. I guess
I could spend the money on some Baer Brakes
or something?

I gotta agree too, if you're gonna swap rims, don't swap to those. Your's look 10 times better. I'd have to say that besides the 5 spoke TRUE modular wheels I'm gonna slap on my car, the 18" IROC'S are the best looking rims on a third gen. GM did an awesome job designing those rims to the car, they match so well.
Baer brakes would be a nice upgrade. Both aesthetic and functional. I don't think you'll be dissapointed, and neither will we.

If I had a Camaro, I would never let those rims off my car! I love the T.T. II's for my T/A, but you've just GOT to leave that car alone. It looks so damn good, it would be a crime to change it. Go with the Baer's!!!

Yeah, I've gotta throw my lot in with the "let a good thing be". It looks pretty good; not to inflate what must be an already large self-image.

Thanks Guys, I really appreciate your thoughts.

I guess I will hold off on the Boyds for now.
I think the reason I want the Boyds is
because I want a change on my car....I guess
I have gotten used to the IROC rims. I was
really excited when I first got them, but
now, I don't feel too excited. But to see
that you guys think the car looks good is
good news to me. I will look into some
other mods now.

Thanks Guys!

Welp, I have really never liked the 18's on that car...., but I wouldnt get the boyds... they look like an import wheel. The american styles look a whole lot better.. (TT II) etc... Keep the IROC's..

Hey MrIROC-Z...what size are those tires? Also how wide are the wheels? I think you need more meat under that car. I have always liked as wide a tire on a car that tucks as possible. I guess you can tell that by looking at mine...

they cant be too wide on his car because the widest those rims come in is a 8". Sadly enough. I would say he probably has 245's on it.

Hi Guys,
Yes, they are 18x8. I have 255/45/18 all
around. This is the main reason why I want
to switch rims. They look awesome on the
car, but they are not wide. I need atleast
a 9.5 in the back. It looks like I will be
holding off on buying th Boyds for a while.
Eventually, though , I think I will get the
boyds....probably as soon as it's time to
get new tires.

I know a guy that has a 'Vette with these rims on it. Awesome. Nice tires too.

Mr. Iroc-Z, ive seen your car in person and i think you should keep the Iroc wheels, you should see if they make 18x9.5 in those iroc wheels.

Gee guys, I feel bad now. Everyone is downing my Boyd's. Saying they are an "import" wheel? How many imports do you see with Boyd rims on them? Most of them have some jap made wheel on them. I feel that Boyd makes a damn good wheel...and I wouldn't have any other wheel on mine...but no hard feelings. People are entitled to their opinions.

LOL. Don't worry about it, man. I think they look good, and I didn't down them. (I just said he should stick with what he has).
If it makes you feel any better, I did save those two pics of your car. I also corrected the one that has the 'Vette in it. It was too blue, that irked my professional side a lot as a broadcast operator. The wheels look great, in fact, I thought I saw the car personally for a bit because I saw a car the same exact color the other day with what might have been those on it. Couldn't tell because we were both going about 45, and well, obviously they were spinning. But that car had a huge Chevy logo on the hatch and two dudes in it who weren't even cool enough to wave at a fellow thirdgenner.
In my opinion, "import/tuner" is something with thin, even numbered spokes, anodized centercaps with the little pin, and painted on tires, and those Boyds are not.

I think the 18" IROC wheels look great on your car. I wish I had the cash to buy 'em, but I really think you should reconsider getting rid of them. Just my opinion.

nah man, your car is bada$$. The boyds belong on your car, but Mr IROC's 18 inch IROCs belong on that car. It was just meant like that. You gotta get some times at the track in that car too. post them for us. that seems like a mean setup.

Believe me, I want to go to the track more than other people want me to go...LOL. Actually, I am still waiting on my slowa$$ engine builder to hurry up and finish my motor! The last time the car was running, it was with some Bowtie heads that didn't flow near what the Dart's flow, and the compression was about a point lower. Now it has better heads, more compression, free floating pistons, and a few more goodies. With the old set up, it was running 13.0's @ 112mph with NO traction on a 106 degree day. With 125hp NOS, it went 12.40 @ 124mph on that same day...also with NO traction. I am wanting mid to low 12's on street tires at around 115-118mph on motor, and somewhere in the 11's with NOS at around 128-130mph. I don't have the rearend to put good tires on the car, and until I do, I would rather spin real bad and save the rearend than hook and blow it up. If I get a good MPH, I will be somewhat happy with that.
